Week two is in the books and a more turbulent week we’ve never seen. The shear amount of injuries which took place leaving many now scrambling to find replacements is unparalleled. Top end stars found their way into the medical room and some are now gone for the season. Rest assured the fantasy season is far from over and we’ll help you get back on track if you’ve been affected by the carnage. Let’s dive into this week’s edition of wavier wire targets.

Quarterbacks:
Gardner
Minshew (JAX) (33%)
For back-to-back
weeks, the Jaguars have been putting up numbers and points in bunches in
attempts to keep up with the opposition. Minshew has done very well in his
first two contests lifting his value to new levels. At this point, we must recommend
considering him as your starter this week verse the Dolphins weak pass defense.
Minshew is an upgrade this week.
Ryan Tannehill
(TEN) (46%)
This could be the
last week we see Ryan Tannehill on the waiver wire as his play is becoming very
steady and reliable. Coming off a four-touchdown performance and facing the Vikings
defense who at this point can stop a cold – we have to believe Tannehill will
have another strong showing and lift your team in week three.
Ryan Fitzpatrick
(MIA) (4%)
Once again, the Fins
Ryan Fitzpatrick has shown he is more than capable in finding his receivers
when given the opportunity and this week against the Jaguars should provide a sound
punch. Fitzpatrick is in the latter stages of his career and will continue to
sling the ball regardless of turnovers. Facing a very weak secondary – we full
expect a 20-point showing from this passer.

Justin Herbert

Baker Mayfield

Phillip Rivers

Running Backs:
Jerick
McKinnon (SF) (26%)
With all the
injuries which occurred to the 49ers in week two, losing Raheem Mostert was a
massive one to say the least. Even still, Jerick McKinnon had carved out a role
for himself in the first two weeks with Mostert in the lineup and that should
only increase this week. McKinnon showed his playmaking ability once again and
will be leaned upon to generate offense. He will be the hottest commodity off
the wire this week.
Joshua Kelley
(LAC) (40%)
This could be the
final week we see the Chargers Joshua Kelley on the wire as his play is now becoming
the standard over the question. Kelley saw a healthy 23 carries last week verse
the Chiefs and the offense as a whole got a massive upgrade with rookie Justin
Herbert behind center. With Herbert the quarterback, this entire offense will
see much better production. Kelley is a must add if he’s still on the wire.
Darrell
Henderson (LAR) (34%)
With the injury
to their rookie Cam Akers, Darrell Henderson witnessed a massive uptick in volume
basically leading the team from the backfield. This week facing the Bills and
their stout defense – Henderson should again be leaned upon. This backfield
will be very fluid week-to-week which does bring some concern, but without
Akers on the field, Henderson should be a decent bet.
Wayne Gallman
(NYG) (1%)
When super star
Saquon Barkley was lost again with another injury (this time season ending),
the Giants now have very large problems to correct. Rumor has it that New York has
Devonta Freeman in for a workout which could lift the ground attack back to
decent levels. Until that sign is official, we must preach Wayne Gallman as the
new lead back for this offense. Gallman has been steady in the past, but
nothing overly exciting. Volume will be here if he is the starter in week three.
Mike Davis (CAR)
(8%)
More injury news
came when Christian McCaffrey found his way into the medical room for the next
several weeks, so Mike Davis is the default replacement. At this point, this pickup
and play comes with some risk, but we have to believe he will see the volume.
If you happened to lose McCaffrey this week, Davis is the natural fill in and
play.

Wide
Receivers:
Marquez
Valdes-Scantling (GB) (36%)
For two straight
weeks, Marquez Valdes-Scantling has seen a plethora of targets come his way and
that shouldn’t change this week. The only concern with MVS is his many drops which
will eventually force Aaron Rodgers to look in another direction. However, reports
have shown that DaVante Adams is dealing with two injuries (ankle & hamstring),
to which he may sit out week three. If that’s the case, MVS is the plug and
play with Allen Lazard the second choice.
Keelan Cole
(JAX) (4%)
While we did expect
the Jaguars to be playing from behind for most of the season, Keelan Cole has
come back to life with two very strong showings so far this season. Going over
14-points in full PPR formats in both weeks, its time to get Cole on your roster
and perhaps throw him into your flex for matchup play. Jacksonville will
typically be earners in garbage time and Cole will have value based on the
first two contests.
Chase Claypool
(PIT) (6%)
This recommendation
might be a few weeks too early, but we are more than comfortable to suggest
picking up the Steelers rookie dynamo – Chase Claypool. Having built a strong
rapport with Ben Roethlisberger so far, his role should continue to evolve and
for the betterment of your club. The safe play is to get him on your roster with
a wait and see approach.
Russell Gage
(ATL) (23%)
If you didn’t believe
in the talents of Russell Gage, you simply weren’t listening. The Atlanta
Falcons are truly one of the best teams to support the pass and Gage will continue
to have a very large role. We could see weeks where he becomes the afterthought
– but from what we see thus far, he’s becoming a sure thing to gain points. Gage
is a must add this week.

Tight Ends:
Dalton Schultz
(DAL) (0%)
The tight end
position has become an issue once again with only a few making big waves. One
player we had on the radar last week (Dalton Schultz) has now become a fantasy commodity.
Looking much better than Blake Jarwin in almost every aspect, the Cowboys gave
him a very generous role last week. Schultz should have good value moving forward
as opposing defenses will struggle to cover everyone on the field. Temper the
expectations for full blown success – but he is a great add this week.
Mo Alie-Cox
(IND) (1%)
We should’ve known
better when evaluating the Colts this offseason, as Phillip Rivers has brought
with him the exact level of play, he held with the Chargers. Utilizing the
running backs and tight ends is the staple of his game and should continue as
the weeks move forward. With Jack Doyle still nursing an injury, Mo Alie-Cox
should again be used with high target ratios.
Jordan Reed
(SF) (7%)
We had the 49ers
Jordan Reed on the waiver pickup and start list last week, and this should be
the exact same recommendation if George Kittle sits again in week three. No one
ever questioned the talents Reed held, but the issue always remained in health from
concussions. If he can stay on the field, Reed is as explosive as the anyone. Value
for Reed is set on Kittle sitting again.
Jordan Akins
(HOU) (2%)
At this point, we
feel sorry for the Texans as the schedule makers did them no favors. Facing the
Steelers in week three is another difficult test verse a very strong defense.
This is a great situation for tight end Jordan Akins, as he has been used frequently
in the first two games. Looking to be a steady play verse tough defenses – we like
Akins a lot moving forward.
