NFL WildCard Weekend – Predictions (Projected odds makers @ Jan.8.2021 – 12:00PM EST)

Saturday Jan.9

Indianapolis @ Buffalo -6
To kick off wildcard weekend, the high-flying Bills will host the Colts. Buffalo has played extremely well these past three contests, where over 120-points scored has been the end result. Josh Allen has this offense rolling and will continue to find holes in the opposition. The Bills defense will be where our fear rises, as stopping the run is the largest area of weakness.

As for the Colts, they managed to sneak into the postseason amidst winning 11-games on the season. Looking much better on the ground with rookie Jonathan Taylor, the play action pass is likely the mode of attack through the air. Indy will have to control the clock in hopes to keep the Bills offense cold and on the sidelines and capitalize on every situation. Nevertheless, Buffalo has been far too strong and should roll as the game moves forward.
ADF Pick: BUF -6 IND 24 BUF 27 (L)
SoJash Pick: IND +6 IND 24 BUF 27 (W)

LA Rams @ Seattle -3
Good news has graced the Rams camp as Jared Goff is practicing and likely to return to action. There is a major concern here as the injured thumb is on his throwing hand. With the Rams not playing to their full potential this season, having their quarterback injured will only lift the possibility for mistakes. Winning this contest will come in the form of a strong run attack and stifling defense.

The Seahawks are back in the playoffs and Russell Wilson should elevate his game back to levels we witnessed over the first eight games. With a defense looking better over the past five games, Wilson will need to protect the ball and find his talented group of receivers to gain the edge. This will be a hard-fought contest and could literally be anyone’s game. With that said, we struggle to go away from Wilson at home.
ADF Pick: SEA -3 LAR 30 SEA 20 (L)
SoJash Pick: SEA -3 LAR 30 SEA 20 (L)

Tampa Bay -8 @ Washington
This is perhaps the toughest game on the slate to predict verse the spread, as the Washington defensive front should be ready to roll. However, they are a weaker club overall and will struggle to put points on the board. Keeping the offense on the field to drain the clock will be the objective for Washington, but we wonder if they will be able to sustain.

The Buccaneers on the other hand seem to have found their prowess on the offensive side, scoring points in bunches. Tom Brady is built for the postseason and will be ready to attack one of the better defensive lines in football. Getting the run game moving with Ronald Jones will add to the scheme which will lift this team overall in this contest. Suggesting eight-points to cover is an easy bet is truly a lie – but we will side with Brady verse a much lesser club.
ADF Pick: TB -8 TB 31 NO 23 (W)
SoJash Pick: TB -8 TB 31 NO 23 (W)

Sunday Jan.10

Baltimore -3.5 @ Tennessee
To kick off the Sunday slate of contests, the Ravens take travel to Tennessee to face the Titans. Both clubs have proven to be very explosive when they want to be and the Ravens are on the cusp of finding their dominating ground attack as seen from last season. With the assistance of the run, Lamar Jackson has also reinvigorated the play action pass to make this offense dynamic once again.

When it comes to the Titans, they are of course led by the MVP running levels of Derrick Henry. With Ryan Tannehill having one of his best seasons as a pro, it’s no coincidence that has excelled with the likes of AJ Brown catches passes. When it comes to this matchup overall, the weakness is the Titans secondary which has us literally feared. However, this game should be a strong back-and-forth with lots of points on the board. We’ll side with Baltimore here, but by three points.
ADF Pick: TEN +3.5 BAL 20 TEN 13 (L)
SoJash Pick: TEN +3.5 BAL 20 TEN 13 (L)

Chicago @ New Orleans -10
The Bears have found greater levels of offense ever since Mitchell Trubisky found his way back on the field. With the run game now moving in the right direction, coach Matt Nagy has altered his system enough to support and remove the overall inadequacy of Trubisky’s game. With a defense that is strong but shows levels of weakness – the Bears are truly outmatched here.

The greater excitement for the Saints this postseason, is that the appear to have all horses back in the stable. With Alvin Kamara back off Covid, Michael Thomas back from injured reserve – New Orleans is primed to make the push for the Super Bowl, potentially one last time for Drew Brees. With the offense having all the tools and the defense one of the best in the league, we will not go away from the Satins at home.
ADF Pick: NO -10 CHI 9 NO 21 (W)
SoJash Pick: NO -10 CHI 9 NO 21 (W)

Cleveland @ Pittsburgh -6
The Browns finally made it back to the postseason, but got bad news in that their head coach has caught Covid. He will not be able to call plays from the sidelines which could become a major concern for in-game management. With that said, this offense should still move behind the running ability of Nick Chubb and eat yards and clock in the process. Baker Mayfield has impressed over the last five games and we have greater faith in him to keep this contest close.

When it comes to the Steelers, we have a difficult time to support much of anything they do on the offensive side at the moment. Taking a giant backseat these past several weeks in terms of execution, they will need to find their early season ways to beat the up-and-coming Browns. Establishing the run will be paramount to their success and we question if they can do that against this defense. Pittsburgh could pull this out, but a field goal is the likeliest of scenarios.
ADF Pick: CLE +6 CLE 48 PIT 37 (W)
SoJash Pick: CLE +6 CLE 48 PIT 37 (W)

ADF WildCard Record: 3-3 (.500)
