Fantasy Football Week 6 Lineup Advice

With week six upon us, gaining those victories have become that much more important to not fall behind in the standings race. Some very interesting matchups are on the horizon that hold fantastic appeal to generate many points for your squad. We have found many potential high earners to help lift your team to finding those wins. Let’s get to it…

START - GET THEM IN YOUR LINEUP

Quarterbacks:
Russell Wilson (SEA)
Admittedly, we at ADF have been extremely hard on Russell Wilson so far this season, and in most cases we have been justified. Regardless of how our past evaluations have gone, Wilson is back to being a must start for week six against the Raiders across the pond playing in London England. While the Hawks offensive line still has its issues, the Seattle run attack has produced favorably to open up the paly action pass relieving some pressure on Wilson in the backfield. The Raiders are a middle of the pack unit in terms of allowing fantasy points to their opponent, but this one has the makings of being a solid contest for Russell.

Ben Roethlisberger (PIT)
Big-Ben disappointed last week with a stat-line that should’ve seen far better inflation of numbers generated, but all took a back seat to the dominance of James Conner. This week we will once again endorse Roethlisberger to find his stride and put up healthy numbers against the Bengals in a massive early season divisional showdown. Cincinnati gives up the 8th most to fantasy quarterbacks making his matchup quite appealing. With that said the Bengals have improved their play in the secondary with rookie Jessie Bates helping solidify that backend. It’s possible this turns out to be a tight contest, but we have hopes it could be somewhat of a shootout.

Jameis Winston (TB)
Perhaps the best Bye-Week quarterback matchup goes to the Bucs Jameis Winston. Going up against the Falcons who can’t seem to stop anyone on defense at the moment, Winston also received an extra week of preparation coming off the bye. Whenever these teams meet, points are never hard to find as their last three contests against each other have seen an average of 57 total points scored with a high of 74 total points. Adding to that, the Falcons are one of the worst in the league in terms of fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks and that should continue on Sunday. If you need an upgrade or are stuck with Brees or Stafford on the bench (bye-week) fire up Winston and watch the points roll in.

Baker Mayfield (CLE)
It’s no secret that we had our reservations on Baker Mayfield before the season began, but we will eat our words and praise the rookie quarterback in everything he’s been able to accomplish thus far. Baker continues to improve game by game with offensive coordinator Todd Haley adding more to the playbook each and every week. The Browns host the Chargers this week (still without Joey Bosa) leaving that defense quite vulnerable. What’s most impressive about Baker is his ability to attack the defense with sound judgement making plays in the process. Mayfield’s fantasy points generated to date have increased each week to which we will again see much of the same. Easy to start Baker this week with plus matchup potential.

Running Backs:
James White / Sony Michel (NE)
While we always threw support toward the Patriots James White, Sony Michel seemingly has taken the trailer off and produced in lump sums these last couple weeks. Not being able to choose between the two, we had no choice but to double down and recommend both White and Michel as must starts this week against the Chiefs. Kansas City has struggled this year with limiting opposing offenses from racking up the points which has led to the 2nd worst group against running backs this season. If that wasn’t enough, the Chiefs injury report has stated that Justin Houston is doubtful for this primetime matchup, upping the value that much more for both Patriot running backs.

Jordan Howard (CHI)
Our offseason gleaming endorsement of the Bears Jordan Howard hasn’t turned into the multitude of production we had envisioned. We knew there would be bumps in the road with a new offensive scheme being implemented, but the lack of overall consistency from Coach Nagy to get Howard involved is becoming quite the concern. Jordan is a volume rusher that gets better with more carries during the course of the contest. We still have great faith that Nagy will treat Howard as a primary back and provide the appropriate workload he requires. Going up against the Dolphins this week in Miami has the makings to become something great with heavy rain in the forecast leaving the Bears to lean on the run game.

Carlos Hyde (CLE)
When the Browns signed Carlos Hyde to the club back in the offseason, many questioned the workload he would receive. By now all his naysayers have quieted down seeing the consistent production he’s been able to achieve early on this season. Seeing his lowest tallies last week was strictly due to the fantastic play of the Ravens top-flight defensive unit, but should be rectified this week versus the Chargers who struggle to defend the run. If this one turns into a high scoring affair, Hyde should benefit from that outcome. It’s not out of the question to see Hyde to once again find the endzone.

Tevin Coleman (ATL)
With recent news that Devonta Freeman has been once again ruled out from his brief return, Tevin Coleman is facing a wonderful matchup that should result in a multitude of production. The Falcons are facing off against the Buccaneers who give up the 6th most to fantasy runners making Coleman a sure-fire start in week six. While the backfield should belong to Tevin this week, rookie Ito Smith could eat into some of that work limiting the overall potential from Coleman. Either way as we already alluded to above, whenever Atlanta and Tampa Bay meet, it results in a great deal of points making Tevin a great option.

Wide Receivers:
Robert Woods (LAR)
As the Rams try and clear both Cooper Kupp and Brandin Cooks from the concussion protocol, Robert Woods could see a huge uptick in targets even if his teammates return to action. The Rams continue to prove they are the cream of the crop in the NFL and should again place that on display against the Broncos at Mile High stadium. While Denver isn’t horrible at defending the pass, they will have a difficult time stopping Todd Gurley leaving the play action pass easily executable. Woods has been a very consistent earner so far this season, but we could see similar stats that he was able to produce back from week three (31.23 points). Sit back and enjoy the production.

Chester Rogers (IND)
With TY Hilton yet again missing another contest, the Colts will have to lean on their other receivers to try and get past the New York Jets at MetLife stadium. Some may question the thought process to recommend Rogers as a must start this week with his frequency to drop passes as seen in abundance from last Thursday night. While we agree the drops are a major concern, we can’t overlook the amount of targets he is receiving in Hilton’s absence. Andrew Luck has thrown 22 passes in Chester’s direction in the last two weeks completing 16 of them for decent yardage. Adding to that, the Jets will be without their top cover corners in Trumaine Johnson and Buster Skrine making Rogers jump up or list. Chester will again be a target hog this week with very high upside.

Tyler Boyd (CIN)
As the Bengals continue to impress this season with sound offensive performances, third year receiver Tyler Boyd remains a large part of this attack. Having a divisional showdown against the Steelers, most would ascertain AJ Green would be the best receiver in this match, but there’s an argument to be had for Boyd taking the lead. The Steelers give up the 5th most to fantasy receivers and proved last week against the Falcons that removing the top receiving option (Julio Jones) was the key game plan. We could see a very similar situation where double coverage on Green is the standard daring Boyd to beat them through the air. Target share should increase for Tyler this week making him a very sound play.

Tyler Lockett (SEA)
We haven’t been shy this season to devalue the Hawks Doug Baldwin and will continue this week as they face the Raiders. The largest beneficiary in this offense has been the fourth year wide-out Tyler Lockett who’s made plays in bunches on a weekly basis. Through five games Tyler has been very productive looking to smash all previous career highs before the season ends. Lockett is on pace for 64 receptions going for 1110 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns, very impressive leap. Obviously those numbers should see a down trend as Baldwin returns to full health, but this week, load up Tyler and don’t look back.

Tight-Ends:
Cameron Brate (TB)
With OJ Howard taking on a greater role in this offense so far this season, Cameron has taken a large step back in terms of overall point production. With that said, Howard still remains on the shelf recovering from his knee injury catapulting Brate back into the starting role. Going up against the Falcons who have grave concerns at line backer and safety, the opportunity is large for Brate to have a great day. It’s not out of the question to witness Brate find his way back to the endzone this week.

Jimmy Graham (GB)
The Packers much like the Seahawks have used Jimmy Graham sparingly at times making him a hit or miss performer on a weekly basis. Injuries to the entire receiving core lifted Graham’s outlook last week where he saw his greatest amount of target share so far this season. We feel that should once again be the case as Green Bay hosts the troubled 49ers on Monday Night Football. While most of the receiving core is trending in the right direction, Coach McCarthy could highlight Graham once again this week leaving the rest of his crew virtually having another week off with limited targets. Very good upside for Jimmy in this one.

SIT - LEAVE THEM ON THE BENCH

Quarterbacks:
Blake Bortles (JAX)
We can no longer preach the positives from the Jaguars Blake Bortles until he shows greater ability and consistency on a weekly basis. Blake has been absolutely dreadful overall, but has saved his fantasy days earning 20+ points in the last two weeks. Going up against the Cowboys in Dallas should be another test that Blake will fail. Dallas employs a solid defense that will make life difficult. Leaning on the run game should be the plan in this one.

Joe Flacco (BAL)
The Ravens are a group that literally confuses the fantasy community with great games followed by duds with no sound explanation. It’s clear that Baltimore is searching for an identity on offense and are struggling to move forward as a run heavy club. Forcing Flacco to throw the ball in less than desirable situations leaves the run game easy to defend. Going up against the Titans who have a much improved defensive group, Flacco could against find it tough to produce good numbers. If you were thinking to play Joe to replace your quarterback on the bye, look in another direction.

Ryan Tannehill (MIA)
As the Dolphins host the Bears in Miami, recent reports suggest that Tannehill is dealing with an injury drawing the questionable tag. Regardless on if he suits up for this contest or not, Miami will be in an impossible situation against one of the best (if not the best) defenses in the NFL. The weather forecast has shown possible chance of heavy rain thus compounding our recommendation to sit Ryan this week. There will be better days on the horizon.

Running Backs:
Dion Lewis (TEN)
When we review the absolute dominating skill of this Ravens defense combined with the lackluster play of this Titans run game, we have no choice but to place Dion Lewis on the bench for this week. Always holding upside in PPR formats, Lewis could again find ways to generate some productivity, but we feel there are far better options out there. Baltimore is a beast holding the opposition to the 2nd least amount of points to fantasy backs so far this season. Leave Lewis on the bench this week.

Kenyan Drake (MIA)
While we sung the praises for Kenyan Drake to have a solid contest last week, we can’t provide that same evaluation entering week six. Going up against the Bears front seven, Drake would literally have a better shot at running through a brick wall then gaining yards in this contest. At this point we have to play the matchups with Drake as he can’t be trusted in difficult contests.

Lamar Miller (HOU)
With the Texans pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes dressing Miller last week but holding him on the sidelines leaving a giant goose egg in the stat column, make it easy on yourself this week and just keep him on the bench. The Buffalo Bills aren’t as bad as most may think, (well, on the defense that is), giving up middle of the pack numbers to opposing runners. It’s possible that Lamar is more banged up then Houston is letting on, so to be safe, keep him out of your lineup for another week.

Alfred Morris (SF)
I realize that some will scoff at this suggestion to sit the only real healthy option at running back for San Francisco, but our contention moves far beyond the volume he’ll receive to the production he’ll be able to generate. Green Bay has been rather stout in containing the run making the task quite difficult for Morris with Beathard behind center. There is no question the amount of carries could be vast, but it shouldn’t equate to a great deal of success.

Wide Receivers:
Doug Baldwin (SEA)
As we have done all season, our downward evaluation for Doug Baldwin will reach into the sixth week of the NFL season. It’s clear that Doug isn’t anywhere near 100% as Coach Carroll continues to integrate other weapons and actually seeing decent results from that. This matchup on paper screams success as the Raiders give up the 8th most to fantasy receivers, but it will be Baldwin’s teammate that will showcase in front of the England crowd. At this point it’s impossible to trust Doug to produce anything substantial.

Larry Fitzgerald (ARZ)
Before the season began, we preached our respect for one of the best wide receivers to every play this game. Now, Larry has become nothing more than a matchup player with very low potential. With that said, it’s not all on Fitzgerald’s shoulders as the Cardinals completely missed the boat with Sam Bradford being the starting quarterback for this club. With rookie Josh Rosen learning the NFL game, hiccups will continue for this offense leaving Larry on the backburner. Limited offensive output in a challenging matchup, leave him on the bench.

Demaryius Thomas (DEN)
After last week’s disaster in New York, the Broncos return home to face off against the Rams in a tough showdown. Demaryius Thomas has clearly not developed the chemistry with his quarterback (Case Keenum) limiting his overall output to levels that make him now a matchup player. It doesn’t help Thomas’ case when he actively continues to struggle with dropped passes on a weekly basis. Even though Thomas still draws the top coverage from the opposition, this offense feeds Sanders before they let Demaryius eat. High potential bust this week for Thomas.

Corey Davis (TEN)
We at ADF feel like we may be the only ones that can’t get on board with Corey Davis in this Titans offense. Far too often we witness other evaluators gush over the potential, then being left stranded and confused to why he isn’t becoming a top-notch playmaker. Davis has ability but it may never be fully realized playing with Mariota and company. Going up against the Ravens stud defensive unit should ultimately force you to keep Corey on the bench.

Tight-Ends:
Davis Njoku (CLE)
The Browns David Njoku is another player that just seems to disappoint weekly even though his involvement in this offense has increased in the last two weeks. Going up against Los Angeles in week six doesn’t provide the great matchup that most believe it would. With the Chargers inadequacies in stopping the pass game as a whole, great value resides in the receivers in this contest. David could find his way to a few receptions, but Baker will be keen on getting the ball to his receivers and running backs first.

Ricky Seals-Jones (ARZ)
After a few weeks of endorsing the potential for the Cardinals Ricky Seals-Jones, now until further notice, he is completely placed in our dog house until he proves his worth. As rookie Josh Rosen develops his craft, Seals-Jones may be more involved in the offense, but right now we have zero trust. Regardless of the matchup, Ricky is a must bench player.

POTENTIAL BIG DAY – ALL ABOUT THE RISK/REWARD

Quarterbacks:
Matt Ryan (ATL)
With the Falcons Matt Ryan seeing his worst outing since week one of the season, week six has great appeal for a massive bounce back contest. Tampa Bay gives up the most to fantasy quarterbacks which is even more glaring since they just completed their bye week. Atlanta is a much better team at home under the dome and Ryan will once again shine.  He could be a top earner this week.

Andy Dalton (CIN)
Yet another contest that looks to become something of a shootout, the Bengals Andy Dalton could have a very sound day. Pittsburgh gives up the 2nd most to fantasy quarterbacks and have struggles covering top receivers. Andy has generated great numbers against fantasy bottom feeders, a place where Pittsburgh currently sits. Potential big day for Andy could be an understatement.

Running Backs:
Nyheim Hines (IND) (PPR)
The Colts rookie Nyheim Hines has become known to the fantasy community with his solid production especially in PPR formats. Going up against the Jets in week six has great potential to once again stack the points for your squad. Hines has seen 20 targets in his last two contests and has become a staple in this offense that coach Reich will continue to exploit. Hines floor has become 10 points a week with a ceiling looking north of 20 points. Fire up Hines this week in all PPR formats.

Ronald Jones II (TB)
With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming off they bye-week, they have been looking to rejuvenate their run attack and this could be the week rookie Ronald Jones becomes a player. Going up against the Falcons who have real issues stopping anyone of defense, Jones could find great fortune in this contest. Proceed with caution as this is a very risky play that could bring high reward. There is potential here with a large bust factor.

Bilal Powell (NYJ)
The New York Jets found their run attack last week against the Broncos gaining well over 200 yards in the process. This week it appears Isaiah Crowell will be extremely limited to the point he may not even suit up. If Isaiah does in fact sit out for this match, Bilal Powell will get the opportunity to start and prove he still can be an effective back in this league. Strictly based on volume, Powell could be a great earner this week.

Wide Receivers:
Calvin Ridley (ATL)
While it seems we are recommending most from the Atlanta-Tampa showdown, the matchup is far to good to ignore. As mentioned above, every time these team’s faceoff against each other, fireworks transpire in bunches on the scoreboard. Ridley regressed last week in an abysmal outing versus the Steelers but looks to get back on track in this one.

Chris Godwin (TB)
We at ADF are very interested to witness Jameis Winston coming back to be the starting pivot for the Bucs making the potential for Chris Godwin quite high. Mike Evans should draw most of the attention in this one with Desean Jackson and Chris Godwin playing cleanup with lesser coverage on their side. Godwin should be a solid point generator as your flex starter.

Ryan Grant (IND)
With TY Hilton once again sitting out for this contest, Ryan Grant should see his role once again expanded. Much like his teammate Chester Rogers, dropped passes have been an issue for Grant and he’ll have the opportunity to clean that up this week against the Jets who give up the 6th most to fantasy receivers. Grant isn’t a must play but does hold stand alone value this week if you require a receiver.

Tight-Ends:
Niles Paul (JAX)
We all understand the limitations of finding a producing tight-end in fantasy football this year, but the potential for the Jaguars Niles Paul to work some magic is definitely on the radar. Paul is quicker and more athletic the Austin Seferian-Jenkins and could prove to be a valuable check down option for Blake Bortles this week. This play also carries a great deal of risk but has the ability to garner some decent production.
