Green Bay Packers - 2018 Offseason Objectives

As the NFL offseason is in full swing, it’s a perfect opportunity to evaluate where each team was in 2017, and where they plan to go in the New Year. Let’s begin the review of the  Green Bay Packers. 2017 Season Recap: With a great 2016 season falling short of meeting their goal of reaching the Super Bowl losing to the Falcons in the NFC championship, the fire burned deep to get back to the same position in 2017. The Packers organization is one that promotes development of its own drafted talent by rewarding them with contracts if their play justifies the action. With great levels of success being achieved under star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, there was little to question that Green Bay would again be in the conversation of a Super Bowl favorite.      As opening day approached, the Packers method was somewhat different after gaining success the year before. Converting wide receiver TY Montgomery to be their full time running back, while keeping their receiving core intact,

Detroit Lions - 2018 Offseason Objectives

As the NFL offseason is in full swing, it’s a perfect opportunity to evaluate where each team was in 2017, and where they plan to go in the New Year. Let’s begin the review of the  Detroit Lions. 2017 Season Recap: The buzz surrounding the 2017 offseason was how the Lions would handle their franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford as he was approaching an expiring contract. Knowing he would fetch a boat load of money on the open market, and not wanting the contract negotiations to cloud the season, the Lions ownership stepped up to the plate an gave Stafford the highest paid contract in NFL history. Now that the formality of what could’ve been a nasty contract dispute has been resolved, the Lions could focus on achieving heights in the regular season that would allow them to see postseason football on a regular basis. Entering the season, Head Coach Jim Caldwell was squarely on the hot seat knowing his future was in doubt if goals weren’t met with success. Becoming the Lions coa

Denver Broncos - 2018 Offseason Objectives

As the NFL offseason is in full swing, it’s a perfect opportunity to evaluate where each team was in 2017, and where they plan to go in the New Year. Let’s begin the review of the  Denver Broncos.   2017 Season Recap: While the 2016 season ended with an end of an era with the retirement of Peyton Manning, the 2017 Broncos still found themselves in need of identifying their starting quarterback. John Elway chose in favor of the defense when he hired former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph to take over the reins of the legendary franchise. On day one, Joseph preached to the media that the quarterback situation would be a fluid competition between 2016 starter Trevor Siemian, reacquired backup Brock Osweiler, and second year pivot Paxton Lynch. True to form, training camp was an obvious competitive rotation as Joseph and then offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, evaluated the potential of all three men. With the overall questions of who would begin the year as the s

Dallas Cowboys - 2018 Offseason Objectives

As the NFL offseason is in full swing, it’s a perfect opportunity to evaluate where each team was in 2017, and where they plan to go in the New Year. Let’s begin the review of the  Dallas Cowboys.   2017 Season Recap: Will he play or will he get suspended, was the main focus going into the 2017 season for the Cowboys and star running back Zeke Elliott. The situation became a nightmare for Coach Garrett and company as they were forced to compile an offensive system knowing it was a distinct possibility they wouldn’t have Elliott for an extended period of time. As the appeal process with multiple judges played out, Dallas seemed to be on the winning end as the NFL was forced to allow Zeke to suit up as the season opened on September 10 th . With expectations extremely high based on a fantastic 2016 season that saw the Cowboys run the NFC East going 13-3, only to lose out to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs. The media was buzzing in Texas as second ye

Cleveland Browns - 2018 Offseason Objectives

As the NFL offseason is in full swing, it’s a perfect opportunity to evaluate where each team was in 2017, and where they plan to go in the New Year. Let’s begin the review of the  Cleveland Browns.   2017 Season Recap: Paper bags covering faces and heads of their fans has been a normal look for this franchise that once enjoyed glory, now reduced to a laughing stock based on inept decision making. Investigating as far back as humanly possible, you can only find a handful of seasons in the last two decades that showed the Browns as a success rather than a failure. Posting only three winning seasons since 1990, the Browns fan base can be pegged as the most loyal and patient as we’ve ever come across in our time covering the NFL. In years 1994, 2002, and 2007, the Browns had winning records with enjoying playoffs twice going only as far as the divisional round in 1994. It’s been a long haul of losing for a fan base that still remains loyal to the club, I think it’s time to right

Cincinnati Bengals - 2018 Offseason Objectives

As the NFL offseason is in full swing, it’s a perfect opportunity to evaluate where each team was in 2017, and where they plan to go in the New Year. Let’s begin the review of the  Cincinnati Bengals. 2017 Season Recap: The 2017 edition of the Bengals had high hopes to regain their form of two seasons ago where they went 12-4 and found themselves in the postseason. Coming off a 2016 season that saw them fall short of returning to the playoffs coach Marvin Lewis had his hopes to retool and drive his vision home and finally getting success in the playoffs. Under coach Lewis and his incredible 14 year run in Cincinnati, he’s had varying levels of success with never winning a playoff game in seven tries. While the Bengals still house a decent team on paper, the wheels seemingly feel off after offensive coordinator Hue Jackson accepted a job to man the ship in Cleveland two years ago. From 2016 to 2017, the offense hasn’t resembled much of anything compared to the one that fired on
