NFL WEEK 17 – Predictions (Projected odds makers @ Jan.1.2021 – 12:00PM EST)

Sunday Jan.3

Miami @ Buffalo -3
The Miami Dolphins will be pushing hard to snag this victory in hopes to gain that coveted playoff spot. With Ryan Fitzpatrick out on the Covid list – Tua Tagovailoa will have to play his best game to get his club into the playoffs.

The Bills on the other hand will be gearing up for a long postseason run and we wonder how long they intend to play their starters. With a second-place ranking on the line, Buffalo will attempt to gain a lead early and rest their stars. We’ll still side with the Bills here.
ADF Pick: BUF -3 MIA 26 BUF 56 (W)
SoJash Pick: BUF -3 MIA 26 BUF 56 (W)

Baltimore -12.5 @ Cincinnati
The Baltimore Ravens are still needing to win this contest to remain in the playoffs and will have everyone ready to go. Lamar Jackson has played much better of late as the team looks to be getting back to basics. The run game has been the guiding principle over the past several weeks and will be again here.

The Bengals have played better the past two weeks with nothing to play for and will attempt to be tough competition here. If the Bengals find a way to compete – they have the biggest shot at playing spoiler. However, the Ravens know exactly what’s on the line and won’t let that happen.
ADF Pick: BAL -12.5 BAL 38 CIN 3 (W)
SoJash Pick: BAL -12.5 BAL 38 CIN 3 (W)

Pittsburgh @ Cleveland -9
With the Steelers resting everyone in this contest with the playoffs already locked up, the advantage goes to the Browns. Cleveland will also need to win this game in hopes to secure a playoff bid. Leaning on the ground game to earn points – we could see them move in the right direction.

Pittsburgh has named Mason Rudolph as the starter for this match, which should bring with it, turnovers and lack of efficiency. With that said, this has the makings to be an upset which could derail the Browns hopes and dreams. Even as we understand the spread, we are cautious in the fact it could be ruined late. We’ll play it safe here.
ADF Pick: PIT +9 PIT 22 CLE 24 (W)
SoJash Pick: PIT +9 PIT 22 CLE 24 (W)

Minnesota -6.5 @ Detroit
In a meaningless contest, the Vikings travel to Detroit to face the Lions. With Dalvin Cook out for this one due to a death in the family – Minnesota will focus on the pass to generate points. Justin Jefferson will conclude his fabulous rookie campaign with at least one score here.

For the Lions, Matthew Stafford intends to play in this one, which will lift the offense as a whole. Some back and forth should occur, which makes a touchdown favor for Minnesota unlucky. We will again error on the side of caution in this one.
ADF Pick: DET +6.5 MIN 37 DET 35 (W)
SoJash Pick: MIN -6.5 MIN 37 DET 35 (L)

NY Jets @ New England -3
The New York Jets are finding their legs late in the season and have piled up two wins in a row. Taking travel to New England used to be a problem, but now it isn’t the case. Both teams are bottom feeders, but the Pats will want to end on a positive note.

Cam Newton hasn’t played well and has been benched a number of times this season. With a defense playing at lesser levels than we have grown to expect – this contest is a true toss-up. We must side with coaching here to be the victor.
ADF Pick: NE -3 NYJ 14 NE 28 (W)
SoJash Pick: NE -3 NYJ 14 NE 28 (W)

Dallas -1.5 @ NY Giants
This contest is still supremely important to the final leader of the NFC East. Dallas has come back to take charge and will need to win and see Washington lose to gain the title. While the Washington contest is on Sunday Night – Dallas will have to take care of business first no matter what happens later in the day.

New York has shown improvements this season and will be better with another offseason of positive roster construction. No matter how we cut it, the Cowboys have been moving the ball well on offense and should be tough to stop. Motivation of the division crown is the play here.
ADF Pick: DAL -1.5 DAL 19 NYG 23 (L)
SoJash Pick: DAL -1.5 DAL 19 NYG 23 (L)

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay -7
At this point how can you not feel for the Atlanta Falcons. Losing games in almost every way – they cannot be trusted to win at any level. However, the offense has been good enough to compete and the defense is showing improvements.

As for the Bucs, they are coming off a tune up contest that could take them to the next level. While we would like to side with Atlanta here to again foil another large spread – packing up for the season will remove motivation and will feed Tampa to again find their offense.
ADF Pick: TB -7 ATL 27 TB 44 (W)
SoJash Pick: TB -7 ATL 27 TB 44 (W)

Green Bay -5 @ Chicago
This contest still has a great deal of value, as the Packers will be looking to secure homefield and the first-round bye - while the Bears are fighting to get into the dance. Green Bay is flying at the moment and look nearly unstoppable. They will again be ready to show they are one of the best offenses in the NFL.

Chicago has found new life with Mitchell Trubisky and have played much better of late. Playing at home is a positive for the Bears to dictate terms, but Green Bay should be far to strong to make this a competitive contest. We went against them last week – we won’t make that mistake again.
ADF Pick: GB -5 GB 35 CHI 16 (W)
SoJash Pick: GB -5 GB 35 CHI 16 (W)

Las Vegas -2.5 @ Denver
Here we again find a game that has no meaning to the playoff race. Denver has much more to play for in terms of next season, as jobs are on the line. Seeing Drew Lock play uneven, finishing the year on a sound note will carry him through the offseason.

The Raiders have proven they could compete with the best, but struggle with consistency. With injuries and porous defensive play, Las Vegas isn’t our favorite club to bet on at the moment. Motivation for Drew Lock should carry Denver to kill this spread this week.
ADF Pick: DEN +2.5 LVR 32 DEN 31 (W)
SoJash Pick: LV -2.5 LVR 32 DEN 31 (L)

Jacksonville @ Indianapolis -14
With injuries littered all over the Jaguars lineup, the odds makers have taken that into account. The Colts have everything to play for and will need help to go along with a victory. Seeing a multi-touchdown spread on the line is fearful, but very doable.

Jacksonville has packed it in for the season and will struggle to do anything positive this week. If there was ever a spread, we felt comfortable taking, this is it.
ADF Pick: IND -14 JAX 14 IND 28 (W)
SoJash Pick: IND -14 JAX 14 IND 28 (W)

LA Chargers -3.5 @ Kansas City
Even with the Chiefs resting all their starters in this contest with first place all locked up, seeing the Chargers hold a four-point favor isn’t something we are comfortable taking. Chad Henne will get the start and should at least move the ball enough in this one.

With that said, the Chargers are fighting for jobs and coach Anthony Lynn is truly on the hot seat. If he intends to return to the sidelines next season – he will have to pull this one out. The Chargers could win by three, so we’ll play it safe.
ADF Pick: KC +3.5 LAC 38 KC 21 (L)
SoJash Pick: LAC -3.5 LAC 38 KC 21 (W)

Arizona -3 @ LA Rams
This game has everything to play for, but the Rams unfortunately will be extremely shorthanded. With Jared Goff and Cooper Kupp already ruled out – backups will have to show their skill to attempt to sneak into the playoffs.

It was said that Kyler Murray could miss this match with a leg injury – but he’s having no part of that. Suggesting he intends to lead his team and get into the postseason; the edge naturally goes to the Cards. While the Rams defense will have to carry the load, we can’t envision much offensive push.
ADF Pick: ARZ -3 ARZ 7 LAR 18 (L)
SoJash Pick: LAR +3 ARZ 7 LAR 18 (W)

Seattle -6.5 @ San Francisco
Here we find another contest with no meaning, as the Hawks have taken the lead and won the NFC West. Likely to rest most of their starters or play them for a limited time, the 49ers should have the upper hand to move the ball and tune up for evaluation purposes.

The 49ers and coach Kyle Shanahan are always looking to improve and we could see more youthful talent making a case for next season.
ADF Pick: SF +6.5 SEA 26 SF (W)
SoJash Pick: SF +6.5 SEA 26 SF (W)

New Orleans -6.5 @ Carolina
At first glance, we struggled to believe the Saints would play their full crew in this one, but with the Buccaneers on their heals for the division – its game on. New Orleans needs this win to secure the division and we believe they will be on point.

The Panthers have had a season filled with ups-and-downs, but have proven to compete with anyone. Teddy Bridgewater will want to show more to close out the season, but will be in tough verse a stout Saints defense.
ADF Pick: NO -6.5 NO 33 CAR 7 (W)
SoJash Pick: NO -6.5 NO 33 CAR 7 (W)

Tennessee -7.5 @ Houston
With the Titans dropping last weeks game in horrible fashion, they will be ready to make the Texans pay for their mistakes. With their playoff lives also in the balance – Tennessee will run wild with Derrick Henry stealing the show. There is no question the Titans will win this contest; the only question is by how much.

Houston will attempt to stay close but won’t have near enough to hold Henry at bay. A year filled with so much hope will conclude as a complete failure. Titans roll here in hopes to hold that playoff spot.
ADF Pick: TEN -7.5 TEN 41 HOU 38 (L)
SoJash Pick: HOU +7.5 TEN 41 HOU 38 (W)

Washington -3 @ Philadelphia
Typically, we don’t witness Sunday Night Football in week 17, but the league has flexed this one. Washington has the potential to win the division even if the Cowboys find a way to victory. The odds makers are placing favor on Washington, simply because of all the inactives the Eagles will have this week.

However, Taylor Heinicke is pegged to start in this one, unless Alex Smith magically finds his way to the field. Banking on news reports that Smith will suit up – we shall side with Washington here to win the division. (We reserve the right to change this pick if Smith sits)
ADF Pick: WAS -3 WAS 20 PHI 14 (W)
SoJash Pick: WAS -3 WAS 20 PHI 14 (W)

ADF Week 17 Record: 12-4 (.750)
@SojashPicks Week 17 Record: 13-3 (.813)
