NFL WEEK 15 – Predictions (Projected odds makers @ Dec.17.2020 – 12:00PM EST)

Thursday Dec.17

LA Chargers @ Las Vegas -3
With the Chargers out of playoff contention, the only reason to get up for this contest is to play spoiler. L.A won last week on the strength of a last-minute field goal, but looked rather uninspired in the process. Justin Herbert hasn’t looked like the same dynamic passer we witnessed early on and will be short handed in this match again with injuries. This game is all for pride for L.A.

As for the Raiders, they are also dealing with a slew of injuries this week and need to play their best to keep pace in the wildcard race. Derek Carr has played very well the past two weeks, which should give this offense a good lift once again. With Josh Jacobs returning last week to shake off the rust – he has a glorious matchup verse a porous run defense. This game could come down to a field goal and we’ll side with Vegas here at home.
ADF Pick: LVR -3 LAC 30 LVR 27 (L)
@SoJash Pick: LVR -3 LAC 30 LVR 27 (L)

Saturday Dec.19

Buffalo -6 @ Denver
The NFL has placed two contests on Saturday, which is a welcomed sight to all us football junkies. Buffalo will be taking travel to the Mile-High this week which is never easy on players bodies. The Bills and Josh Allen have looked great and are coming off a fabulous victory verse the Steelers last Sunday Night. Facing Denver who has had moments of looking sharp this season, they also have had issues of inconsistency. This is an important game for the Bills as they could lock up the division shortly with another victory.

The Broncos are coming off a contest where they looked much better and displaced the Carolina Panthers. Drew Lock looked sharp in his throwing ability which forces us to take pause when dissecting this week’s spread. Having the ability to at least keep games competitive, the run game will be a primary source of trying to earn points. This feels like a trap game for the spread, as a three-point finish could be the result. We believe the Bills should come out on top, but the spread could be killed late. We’ll gamble.
ADF Pick: BUF -6 BUF 48 DEN 19 (W)
@SoJash Pick: DEN +6 BUF 48 DEN 19 (L)

Carolina @ Green Bay -8.5
The lost season for superstar Christian McCaffrey has left a mark on this clubs winning potential, as the passing attack surely has been much better. Taking travel to Green Bay is never an easy feat and showing their true colors last week in a loss to the Broncos leaves a lot to be desired. Teddy Bridgewater has done a decent job as the starter – but the Packers are a top competitor that will test their resolve.

When it comes to these Packers, they have been a wonderful club to watch on a weekly basis. Aaron Rodgers is playing at MVP levels but not getting the respect he deserves again. With Davante Adams playing at lights out levels himself, we fear the Panthers will be struggling early and often to stop this powerhouse. The Packers have been good verse the spread this season and this should be another big win with little push back.
ADF Pick: GB -8.5 CAR 16 GB 24 (L)
@SoJash Pick: GB -8.5 CAR 16 GB 24 (L)

Sunday Dec.20

Tampa Bay -6 @ Atlanta
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a very tough club to evaluate on a weekly basis, as they continue to falter in terms of being that heavy hitting team. Tom Brady is trying his best to distribute the ball with efficiency, but the overall prowess hasn’t been seen with consistent levels. The Bucs will be without Ronald Jones for this contest – but should be of no consequence with Leonard Fournette taking over.

The Atlanta Falcons are on the cusp of blowing this team up for next season and the transition will be interesting. Matt Ryan hasn’t played great this year and the run attack with Todd Gurley hasn’t been what some may have expected. The defense has played better of late but will be in tough against Brady and company who will be looking to make a statement. We simply have no confidence in the Falcons with or without Julio Jones in the lineup.
ADF Pick: TB -6 TB 31 ATL 27 (L)
@SoJash Pick: TB -6 TB 31 ATL 27 (L)

San Francisco -3 @ Dallas
The 49ers had so much promise entering the season but lost far too many players to the injury bug. With many high-end talents on the injured reserve – it has been an uphill climb to say the least. With Nick Mullens trying his best to move the ball, last week could be seen as the final dagger on the season for this team. Taking travel to Dallas to face the lowly Cowboys defense, there should be points to be had.

When we look at the Cowboys, the offense is still relatively healthy and still possesses the ability to put up points on the scoreboard. While the defense is the major concern here – the offense should be able to move the ball on the 49ers who have been exploited the past two weeks. This is a tricky spread to predict but Dallas still has something to play for in this contest. This will be the last-ditch effort for the Cowboys to keep pace in the NFC East. We’ll gamble and side with them this week.
ADF Pick: DAL +3 SF 33 DAL 41 (W)
@SoJash Pick: SF -3 SF 33 DAL 41 (L)

Detroit @ Tennessee -10.5
The Titans showed extremely well last week verse weaker competition and the odds makers are trying to make us believers this will happen again. While its not far fetched to think Derrick Henry won’t have yet another massive showing – the Lions are a team that can put up points to kill large spreads. Ryan Tannehill should be on point verse a defense that struggles on the best of days, with the play action pass being exploited.

When it comes to the Lions, the reason this spread is so large is due in part to the health of Matthew Stafford. Injuring his ribs last week – it has been noted he is unlikely to suit up for this contest, leaving Chase Daniel the starter. This will instantly devalue the Lions pass attack, making it more difficult to earn a comeback bid if found losing early. With Stafford in, we would take the under here, but are going with what we know today. (We reserve the right to change this pick if Stafford plays).
ADF Pick: TEN -10.5 DET 25 TEN 46 (W)
@SoJash Pick: TEN -10.5 DET 25 TEN 46 (W)

Houston @ Indianapolis -7.5
The Colts at this point of the season are becoming a very scary team. Firing on all cylinders and integrating the wide receivers more often of late, the run game has also been more efficient. With a defense that is looking fantastic verse weaker competition – the Texans are in grave trouble with limited playmakers on the field. The last time these teams met, the Colts won by six.

The Texans are themselves coming off a horrific showing verse the Bears, where Deshaun Watson was unable to carry the team on his back. With David Johnson and Brandin Cooks looking on the right side of playing this week – we could witness more punch from Houston. The Texans will be playing for pride and should keep this one more competitive than the spread indicates. Indy will win, but we caution the cover.
ADF Pick: HOU +7.5 HOU 20 IND 27 (W)
@SoJash Pick: IND -7.5 HOU 20 IND 27 (L)

New England @ Miami -2
The Patriots have been less than spectacular this season and Cam Newton is clearly not the answer. Coming off a disastrous loss to the Rams last Thursday Night, we understand why the odds makers are siding with the Dolphins this week. New England rarely loses two games in a row and we fully expect Bill Belichick to have a game plan ready verse the Fins rookie passer - Tua Tagovailoa. Belichick is a master in scheming against rookie quarterbacks, and the Fins are greatly shorthanded this week.

Miami has been a pleasant surprise this season as Coach Brian Flores has this team moving in the right direction. However, the offense could be without their two-top wide receivers, their starting running back, and will be without their starting tight end. This all adds up to limited potential on the offensive side as the Pats defense is still quite reliable. We could see an upset here this week.
ADF Pick: NE +2 NE 12 MIA 22 (L)
@SoJash Pick: MIA -2 NE 12 MIA 22 (W)

Chicago @ Minnesota -3
The Vikings collapsed last week in Tampa, where they couldn’t muster enough verse a very talented defensive line. Getting the run game moving here will again be the first choice in production, as Dalvin Cook continues to be a league leader in many categories. With the play action pass firing, Kirk Cousins is truly at his best. Facing the Bears who have come on of late – this is far from a given that Minnesota will come out on top.

As for those Bears, now with Mitchell Trubisky looking much better overall, we truly like what we see from this offense. Establishing the ground attack has been a thing of beauty, as David Montgomery looks to continue his very strong play. Trubisky has altered his game to be more efficient and seems to have found the ability to throw to the left from the pocket. Even as this could be something of a dart throw – we were extremely impressed with how the Bears played last week. Even if they lose, it will be closer than three.
ADF Pick: CHI +3 CHI 33 MIN 27 (W)
@SoJash Pick: CHI +3 CHI 33 MIN 27 (W)

Seattle -5.5 @ Washington
The Washington Football team have found their legs on the defensive side and are punishing the opposition. Lead by rookie Chase Young – this front four is playing lights out in attempts to earn the division title. With that said, Alex Smith could be out for this contest, leaving Dwyane Haskins to again lead the charge. Looking terrible in relief last week – the fear is real that they won’t be able to generate enough points.

If this contest was played six weeks ago, we would’ve had no issue in believing the Hawks would dominate. However, things have changed where Russell Wilson hasn’t been scheme proof and dropping his level of play has followed. Taking travel to Washington is another fear in our minds, as West-East is never positive for solid points. With that, the Hawks are the better team overall and should find ways to gain on the ground. As much as we like Washington’s defense, Wilson is the man we trust.
ADF Pick: SEA -5.5 SEA 20 WAS 15 (L)
@SoJash Pick: SEA -5.5 SEA 20 WAS 15 (L)

Jacksonville @ Baltimore -13
With the Jaguars playing out the string to secure a top pick in this year’s draft, Gardner Minshew will be back behind center to lead this club. Taking travel to Baltimore will be no easy task, as the Ravens are still fighting for their playoff lives. Being a much better team overall – the odds makers are still causing a problem when it comes to picking this spread. Lamar Jackson will have to be on point and run the ball for the Ravens to keep this big lead for a full 60-minutes.

The Jaguars have battled this season behind the spectacular running ability of James Robinson. While that has helped move this offense in the right direction – he will have issues finding traction in this one. With Minshew returning to the field as the starter, the rust will likely be a concern and will provide turnovers. The Ravens are the much better team and we struggle to believe the Jags will compete here.
ADF Pick: BAL -13 JAX 14 BAL 40 (W)
@SoJash Pick: BAL -13 JAX 14 BAL 40 (W)

NY Jets @ LA Rams -17.5
Here we find the largest spread of the week, as the Rams host the Jets to an 18-point spread. The Rams looked great last week displacing the Patriots and have found glory in Cam Akers running the ball. The Jets are perhaps the worst run organization in the league and have no interest in winning games right now. Looking to earn the top pick in the draft – the Rams will be a dominating force.

With Aaron Donald and company rushing Sam Darnold with no sense of a run attack – we absolutely fear for the life of Darnold. Not much to evaluate in this one, as the Rams will be far too much to believe the spread is in danger.
ADF Pick: LAR -17.5 NYJ 23 LAR 20 (L)
@SoJash Pick: LAR -17.5 NYJ 23 LAR 20 (L)

Philadelphia @ Arizona -6.5
The Eagles changed direction last week in starting Jalen Hurts over Carson Wentz. While we had some reservation to the play – Hurts was much better than Wentz has been for the entire season. Lifting the club with emotion did show on the field, as Hurts orchestrated as massive win verse one of the best in the business in New Orleans. While its easy to side with any team promoting change and excitement – the Eagles have pieces to move the ball.

The Cardinals on the other hand have been somewhat up and down these past several weeks, and will be looking to add another win to keep pace in a very strong division. Beating the Giants last week with distinction – this will be a much tougher task overall. With not much film on how to defend Hurts as the starter, this will give the Eagles a leg up so to speak. Arizona could win, but this game will be tighter than the line indicates.
ADF Pick: PHI +6.5 PHI 26 ARZ 33 (L)
@SoJash Pick: PHI +6.5 PHI 26 ARZ 33 (L)

Kansas City -3 @ New Orleans
The Kansas City Chiefs flirted with danger last week, and have another tough matchup verse one of the best defenses in the NFL. There is no question that the Chiefs are still in the driver seat in terms of being the most explosive at any given moment, but we are excited to witness this test. We fully expect the run game to get going here, as it will be a massive part in how this offense moves in week 15.

When it comes to the Saints, they will again be without Drew Brees, leaving Taysom Hill to again attempt to win verse heavy competition. Hill in our eyes isn’t the answer at the position and Coach Andy Reid will have his troops ready to defend. Without Brees, the Saints are beatable if the run game can be stopped. This is a gift from the odds makers.
ADF Pick: KC -3 KC 32 NO 29 (W)
@SoJash Pick: KC -3 KC 32 NO 29 (W)

Cleveland -4.5 @ NY Giants
Sunday Night Football has been flexed to see the Browns take on the Giants this week. The Browns are coming off one of the better games of this season entertainment wise, and should be ready to go verse New York. Behind Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, Cleveland is becoming scarier on a weekly basis if Baker Mayfield continues to throw the ball well.

As for the Giants, they will again be without Daniel Jones, which will limit the offense overall to be more so of a check-down unit. The Browns defense is an attacking bunch that will bring the heat and control the clock on the ground. With New York not being able to show good levels of consistency this season, their defense has been much better overall as well. Nevertheless, the Browns behind Coach Stefanski are a team on the rise and getting hot.
ADF Pick: CLE -4.5 CLE 20 NYG 6 (W)
@SoJash Pick: CLE -4.5 CLE 20 NYG 6 (W)

Monday Dec.21

Pittsburgh -12.5 @ Cincinnati
It has become impossible to support the Bengals at this point, as they literally have no fight within them. Behind Brandon Allen and virtually no run game to speak of – the are an easy bet to lose the string for the remainder of the season. There are very few positives to take from them this week.

As for the Steelers, the book is out on how they run offensively, as the short-quick pass game is how they generate offense. Getting the run game going will be easier in this one and a welcomed sight for Pittsburgh. This should act as a tune up contest for Ben Roethlisberger and company, where the points will flow freely. We will see another lopsided event here.
ADF Pick: PIT -12.5 PIT 17 CIN 27 (L)
@SoJash Pick: PIT -12.5 PIT 17 CIN 27 (L)

ADF Week 15 Record: 8-8 (.500)
