As we reach the half way point of the NFL season, the landscape is beginning to take form. Seeing which clubs that are firing on all cylinders and those gearing up to secure their spot in the NFL draft – this all is important to dissect for fantasy purposes. With some position groupings looking rather thin, scraping the bottom of the barrel could bring with it value this week. Remember, the season isn’t over just yet and continue to make moves in attempts to grab a playoff spot. Let’s dive into this week’s edition of wavier wire targets.

Teddy Bridgewater (CAR) (44%)
Over the past several weeks, the Panthers Teddy Bridgewater has played very well and should be a consideration to be in your starting lineup verse the Falcons in week eight. Carolina continues to impress with their big play appeal, allowing you to do a lot worse for a fill-in passer.
Last week, we had the 49ers Jimmy Garoppolo on the list of potential big day players, but that didn’t come to fruition. This week we see another test come, with much greater potential for fantasy success. San Francisco faces the Seahawks defense that has been gashed on a weekly basis leaving great possibilities forthcoming. He is a sound flyer this week.
It appeared the minute Odell Beckham went down with injury, Baker Mayfield turned up his level of play. Not to say this will remain, but the Browns continue to roll, winning contests and the confidence will also grow for this passer. Being forced to spread the ball around could come with greater statistics, so Mayfield is back in the viable category.
Derek Carr (LVR) (29%)
Drew Lock (DEN) (9%)
Kirk Cousins (MIN) (29%)
Philip Rivers (IND) (16%)
Kyle Allen (WAS) (5%)
Tua Tagovailoa (MIA) (29%)
DeeJay Dallas (SEA) (1%)
With the loss of Chris Carson for the next several weeks, the next man up should’ve been Carlos Hyde – but he too has been placed on the injury report with a hamstring. Travis Homer is also dealing with his own aliment – so this naturally promotes DeeJay Dallas to get the lion share of the carries. If you are stuck for a running back this week, Dallas will provide volume in a tough matchup.
Aside from what the masses continue to preach, we saw more than enough to believe the Giants should continue to roll with Wayne Gallman behind Daniel Jones. Gallman looked the best we’ve seen in a long time but will have a difficult showdown verse the stout Buccaneers defense. Perhaps garbage time points is the angle here – but he should be a consideration if you are short for depth.
We had some level of belief that the Jets would roll with La’Mical Perine as the lead back for the remainder of the season, but its clear a full-time split with Frank Gore will continue. With that said, Perine will have a roll and should be considered as a matchup player who is touchdown dependant in this Jets offense. Volume will dictate terms.
With the injuries to Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson in consecutive weeks, JaMycal Hasty will see his role expand with Jerrick McKinnon in this backfield. The 49ers are predicated upon running the ball very well and coach Kyle Shanahan is known to feed whomever is in the position. Hasty looked explosive at times and will be a great change of pace this week verse the Hawks with volume potential rather high.
Travis Homer (SEA) (1%)
Gus Edwards (BAL) (11%)
Jordan Howard (MIA) (20%)
J.D McKissic (WAS) (39%)
Tony Pollard (DAL) (20%)
Tevin Coleman (SF) (27%)
D’Ernest Johnson (CLE) (7%)
Brandon Aiyuk (SF) (50%)
With a 50% share of ownership as of today, the 49ers Brandon Aiyuk is poised for a breakout with Deebo Samuel back on the shelf with an injury. Seeing a healthy seven targets last week, we should witness a peppering of passes to come his way verse the Hawks who struggle to cover the position. He is a safe bet to score points this week.
The evolution of the Raiders offense this season has taken shape with Nelson Agholor now fully entrenched as the favorite target of Derek Carr. Scoring a whopping 44.53 full PPR points in the last three games, we should see that continue as production always dictates terms. The Raiders coaching staff will feed Agholor until he gives them a reason not to.
With the injury to Odell Beckham and being lost for the season, Rashard Higgins gets an uptick and is now warranted to be placed on your roster. The notion that the Browns will be better without Beckham is confusing but not untrue. The reason this statement has floated out there is because Baker Mayfield will now look for the open target over force feeding a super star. Higgins has matchup appeal with potential weekly flex start coming his way.
Tim Patrick still receives little endorsement from the masses, but we are fully onboard with his ability in this offense. Taking the Courtland Sutton role to perfection, targets and usage have been plentiful. However, with joy comes issue for this receiver as he strained his hamstring last week and is questionable verse the Chargers. Nevertheless, he is a player that should be on your roster with sound games on the horizon.
Perhaps, this is the quietest success story of the 2020 season at the position, as Cole Beasley is playing lights out. Forming a keen chemistry with Josh Allen, Beasley is becoming a safety blanket in this offense which bodes very well for PPR production. Even as we caution the potential for limited targets in certain contests – the floor has become very safe. He needs to be owned at this point.
Jalen Reagor (PHI) (14%)
Dez Bryant (BAL) (2%)
Preston Williams (MIA) (21%)
Russell Gage (ATL) (16%)
Randall Cobb (HOU) (16%)
Josh Reynolds (LAR) (1%)
Keelan Cole (JAX) (38%)
Gabriel Davis (BUF) (3%)
Jalen Guyton (LAC) (0%)
Trey Burton (IND) (21%)
With the Colts being on the bye week and fantasy owners rightfully not holding two tight ends on their roster, Trey Burton is a great grab this week as he looks to be the main target at the position. Phillip Rivers has struggled to feed wide receivers and has utilized his tight ends this season. Coach Frank Reich has a great affinity for Burton and we’d be shocked if his role drops this week.
With the emergency surgery for Austin Hooper, his absence will be felt again this week – but a potential filler in Harrison Bryant could again bring heavy production. The Odell Beckham injury will force the coaching staff to get creative as they attempt to keep this pass attack moving. Bryant is an easy plug-in play this week against the Lions, but could be touchdown dependant.
This is a speculation addition this week, as Tyler Higbee was a late scratch on Monday Night due in part to his injured hand. Gerald Everett showcased his skill once again and found the endzone in a lopsided victory. The injury report will have to be seen before we can suggest playing him – so keep a close eye on Higbee’s status later in the week before you pick up this tight end.
Jack Doyle (IND) (8%)
Darren Fells (HOU) (23%)
Logan Thomas (WAS) (25%)
Greg Olsen (SEA) (19%)
Philadelphia (83%) vs Dallas
