While week three witnessed far less in terms of injuries than the week prior, we still have players who will be replaced due to trips to the medical room. Adding to that, many young rookies are starting to take form and could become fantasy viable as the weeks progress. With recent news coming that positive Covid tests have been found – this week’s waiver could extend into the latter stages. Let’s dive into this week’s edition of wavier wire targets.

Baker Mayfield (CLE) (47%)
The Browns Baker Mayfield has been less than desirable in terms of fantasy production thus far, but matchup play is where we could get the most from him this season. Facing the Cowboys who give up points in bunches in the pass game, we could see Mayfield have himself a very decent day. There is always risk here, but if you need a filler it could work this week.
Nick Foles (CHI) (3%)
Coming in to replace the troubled Mitchell Trubisky, Nick Foles finds himself back behind center to lead a club. The Bears looked far better with Foles throwing the ball and we fully expect that to continue verse lesser competition. While the Colts have looked good on defense, their competition has been minimal. Foles could be a nice plug-in play this week.
Ryan Fitz-magic has again proven what can be done with a Dolphins team that is trying to build and win games. Fitzpatrick will never be the unquestioned starter for your fantasy team, but he always holds appeal to be a matchup quarterback and could have a decent outing against the Seahawks. Miami will be playing from behind for the entire day which means throwing is the only way back. Points could be plentiful in garbage time here.
On the Radar:
Phillip Rivers (IND) (23%)
Nick Mullens (SF) (2%)
Justin Herbert (LAC) (20%)
Running Backs:
Carols Hyde (SEA) (19%)
With running back becoming scarce to say the least, we lost another talent in Chris Carson for a couple weeks to a knee sprain, leaving Carlos Hyde the biggest get on the wire. Hyde has proven to be very reliable and will get his chance to lead in an offense that is now high-octane. Hyde should be a top priority this week.
The Dolphins have altered the entire approach so far this season and are now using Myles Gaskin as the lead back in this offense. We still have no understanding as to why, with Jordan Howard and Matt Breida on this roster? Nevertheless, Gaskin should edge out the workload and volume will be key. Points will be up and down but volume is the reason for this add.
The 49ers Jeff Wilson should continue to have a roll this week if Raheem Mostert continues to be out with his injury. It appears that any running back could have success in this backfield so long as Kyle Shanahan is running the show. Wilson is coming off a two-touchdown performance and could again see plenty of usage if given the role. Placing Wilson on your bench as a wait and see is the play.
The Patriots Rex Burkhead has again come back to life, but should be used in situational schemes. The absence of James White has lifted Burkhead to take this role and this back preformed beautifully last week. New England has never been consistent in how they use their running backs and this is a very tough scenario to dissect. Bench stash with potential to play is definitely here.
Wayne Gallman (NYG) (5%)
Frank Gore (NYJ) (17%)
Chase Edmonds (ARZ) (37%)
JyMycal Hasty (SF) (1%)
Wide Receivers:
Zach Pascal (IND) (1%)
With the injury to rookie Michael Pittman, Zach Pascal instantly gets a lift back into the starting lineup. Although the connection between Phillip Rivers and his wide receivers hasn’t come to fruition just yet, there seems to be the best chemistry between him and Pascal. This could be a sneaky sound pickup and stash.
The Cincinnati Bengals are clearly in the beginning stages of finding their identity, and rookie Tee Higgins has shown he can be very reliable early. When given the opportunity, Higgins has developed a solid connection that could eventually become a weekly fantasy play. AJ Green has struggled immensely and we believe if that continues – Higgins will take that role and the targets that come with it. Still need to see more consistency, but he needs to be on your roster in case the blow up happens.
Subsequently, another rookie had his breakout contest last week and Justin Jefferson has made his name known. The Vikings were looking for Jefferson to replace the departed Stefon Diggs, and they forced the issue last week to great success. Moving forward, Jefferson has the best opportunity of any rookie to make waves, as he literally has no one standing in his way. Jefferson is the safest of the rookie pass catchers at the moment.
Target share and volume are key objectives when finding players off the wire, and this receiver could be in for a boat load in the coming weeks. The 49ers truly had no choice but to throw Brandon Aiyuk into the fire, but he played admirably and found traction to score a touchdown last week. Moving forward, San Fran has no choice but to continue this trend with all the injures this club has. Aiyuk has value but could be hit and miss, week-to-week.
On the Radar:

Andy Isabella (ARZ) (2%)
Randall Cobb (HOU) (7%)
Keelan Cole (JAX) (41%)

Cole Beasley (BUF) (10%)
KJ Hamler (DEN) (11%)
Darnell Mooney (CHI) (1%)
Scotty Miller (TB) (16%)
Laviska Shenault (JAX) (29%)
Tight Ends:
Mo Alie-Cox (IND) (10%)
History has shown that Phillip Rivers loves to not only support his running backs, but also athletic tight ends. Mo Alie-Cox is a mirror image of Rivers former teammate (Antonio Gates) in that they both are former basketball stars. Not to say Alie-Cox will be exactly like Gates – but the targets will come as that’s where the comfort zone is. With no connection with his wide receivers – Alie-Cox will continue to have a role.
We suggested the pickup up the Cowboys Dalton Schultz last week, and we again preach the same. With how high-powered the Dallas offense is, Schultz is the forgotten man to opposing defenses that will see usage on a weekly basis. He will be touchdown dependant like most at the position, but the floor should be very safe as well. If you need a tight end, you could do a lot worse then Schultz.
While the Bears Jimmy Graham has seen better days in his long career, a rejuvenation of sorts could be on the horizon with Nick Foles the quarterback for Chicago. Finding the endzone twice in their come from behind victory to the Falcons, Graham could again be fantasy viable, especially in matchup play. We would like to see one more contest of usage before we endorse, but we are ok with taking the chance if your roster requires it.
Greg Olsen (SEA) (22%)
Eric Ebron (PIT) (27%)
Tyler Eifert (JAX) (11%)
Jordan Akins (HOU) (6%)
Drew Sample (CIN) (8%)
OJ Howard (TB) (22%)
