The time is now and
there will be no tomorrow. The Fantasy Football Championship is on the line and
securing that perfect lineup will obviously be top priority.
First and foremost,
play your studs who got you to this point as they more than likely will grind
out those points for your club. However, understanding the landscape which is filled
with injury, adjustments can be made to help lift you over the top. We have
complied a list of players that you should play and subsequently stay away from
based on many circumstances.
This will be the final
Lineup Advice-Start/Sit column of the season, and we truly would like to thank
you all for the support. Our goal is and always has been to provide the most comprehensive
knowledge for this wonderful game of football. While we will be back next
season, remember that here at ADF, there is no offseason. Stay tuned for many
articles and podcasts to help you prepare for next season. Good luck this week
and lets got those trophies!

START - GET THEM IN YOUR LINEUP
Quarterbacks:
Russell
Wilson (SEA)
While most of the year has seen Russell Wilson grace the starting
lineup, championship weekend is a true must start. Facing the Cardinals at home
in a massive contest, Wilson will be that great lift to win you that title
match. Basically, a no brainer start, our goal is to provide insight on the
best for the week to get that coveted trophy.
Gardner Minshew (JAX)
While yes, this may be more of a risky play, but we like the chances
of Gardner Minshew elevating his game to the next level once again. Facing the
Falcons who have seen better play from their defense over the past several
weeks, we can see a giant letdown of sorts. Jacksonville will do their best for
angling job auditions for next season, and Minshew wants that starting role to
be his. Some level of risk, but a healthy stream.
Running Backs:
Adrian
Peterson (WAS)
Could we ever have imagined that Adrian Peterson would be a trusted
fantasy earner in the finals in 2019? The answer to that is no, but it truly is
the case. Peterson has again been placed as the Redskins top runner with all
the injuries to players in the backfield. Having a fabulous matchup verse the
Giants, we see nothing but right happening here. And endzone trip is basically
a formality in this one. Old man Peterson will help you hoist that trophy.
Chris Carson (SEA)
While the Seahawks Chris Carson has been fantastic this season, he
will be a massive player to help get you this win in week 16. Facing the
Cardinals who will experience an on slot in terms of offensive punch, Seattle
will set the tone early and often with Carson. A multi-touchdown game could be
on the docket and he should be considered the safest of plays.
Phillip Lindsay (DEN)
We haven’t sung the praise of the Broncos Phillip Lindsay often this
year, but now is the time sticking with him will pay off the most. Denver has a
glorious matchup against the Lions who hemorrhage points with the worst in the
league. Finding the ground game in Denver this season hasn’t been the most
productive, but it will most certainly turn around here.
Wide Receivers:
Courtland
Sutton (DEN)
Keeping with the Denver Broncos, suggesting the play of Courtland
Sutton has our mouths watering. With Drew Lock behind center and looking sound
in the process, this contest should bring with it a great deal of points and
statistical achievements. Sutton has been sneaky good for the 2019 season, but
will plant himself as a star in this one. At least one touchdown should find
him on Sunday.
Will Fuller (HOU)
With many throwing hype toward the Buccaneers Breshad Perriman for
this contest, we choose to move in a different direction and endorse Will
Fuller. While the Buccaneers pass attack has been very good this season, the
Texans get the largest gift in facing one of the leagues worst pass defenses. Deshaun
Watson should have a field day in dissecting the Bucs secondary leaving Will
Fuller to have a mammoth showing. Hamstring issues aside, Fuller should ball
this week.
Tyler Boyd (CIN)
Not having seen the full potential come to pass this season for
Tyler Boyd, the Bengals will have a very strong matchup against another bottom
feeder in the Dolphins. Miami is horrible in stopping the opposition in most
offensive categories, and we could see that lift Boyd to fabulous levels. A
season full of ups and downs should be rectified this week.
Tight-Ends:
Hunter
Henry (LAC)
With the LA Chargers on their way out with no postseason viability,
this week’s match verse the Raiders has giant statistical appeal. Even though
Henry dropped a massive goose egg last week, he will be on the rebound as the
Raiders have massive issue in stopping the tight end. There is some level of
risk to this play, but we like the odds of at least seven targets directed to
Henry’s direction.
Jacob Hollister (SEA)
By now if you have followed the season and fantasy football
production, the Cardinals are the worst team in the NFL in stopping the tight
end position. Giving up touchdowns nearly every week to tight ends, Jacob
Hollister should be in for a delightful day. The Seahawks will look to spread
the ball around on this weak defense, but finding holes here will be like
picking apples.
SIT - LEAVE THEM ON THE BENCH
Quarterbacks:
Josh
Allen (BUF)
With how well the Bills have played this season, Josh Allen has made
great strides in his progression. Having posted many games over the 20-point
mark, this surly won’t be one of those days. The Patriots defense is a beast
and will make life very difficult on the young passer. Hard to believe that
Allen won’t have a mistake of two in this one. Not the best play for week 16.
Jared Goff (LAR)
Some who have streamed quarterbacks this season might have a thought
to play the Rams Jared Goff this week, but we caution against that. The Rams
are truly shades of what they were last season and the pass attack simply can’t
get it done. While playing the 49ers on Saturday looks appealing with the
multitude of fantasy points they have given up the past couple weeks, it just
won’t happen here.
Running Backs:
Derrick
Henry (TEN)
This will be the biggest shock to most who read, but we must provide
assessment where applicable. The Titans Derrick Henry has been dealing with an
injured hamstring these past few weeks and has a very tough task in front of
him. Facing the Saints defense who is very stout in their own right, playing
hurt will not be a welcomed sight. We understand how difficult it would be to
sit Henry, but in this scenario, we can see it. This is more caution then a
must sit, but it should be in the conversation.
Tevin Coleman (SF)
Sometimes the obvious starts or sits need to be called out as well,
and this is one. The 49ers Tevin Coleman had so much promise coming into this
season to be the lead dog, and once again he tapered off. With Kyle Shanahan
rolling with the hot hand in every game, Coleman would have to break off many
runs to stay in the game. Can’t start whatsoever this week.
David Montgomery (CHI)
We continue to hear some suggest the play of the Bears David
Montgomery for championship weekend, but let me remove that from your mind
instantly. While yes, the matchup looks very favorable on paper, there is no
conceivable situation where we can trust this running back for the rest of
2019. Even if you have no other play here, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Wide Receivers:
John
Brown (BUF)
Keeping with what’s worked this season should be the staple of how
you set your roster, but this man is one that you cannot play in week 16. Smoky
John Brown has had a very sound season with this Bills and the potential for
over 10-points has been his floor. But in facing the Patriots and likely seeing
Stephan Gilmore for most of the day, this is an easy sit in our books.
Julian Edelman (NE)
Staying in the same contest, but highlighting the other side, we
must throw shade on the Patriots Julian Edelman this week. Not only are the
Bills great in stopping the pass, Edelman is clearly hurting and will be unable
to muster high end ability. While he should suit up for this important contest,
he will again letdown his owners in the most important week.
Odell Beckham Jr (CLE)
Suffice it to say, seeing Odell Beckham grace the sit list on
championship weekend is something we still have a hard time suggesting. Nevertheless,
there is no way on this planet we will force the issue and play Beckham
regardless on how it turns out. Even if Beckham manages to score three
touchdowns while going over 100-yards receiving, this is still the correct
move. At this point he is impossible to trust.
Tight-Ends:
Tyler
Higbee (LAR)
While over the last three weeks, the Rams have integrated Tyler
Higbee in this offense a lot more, but don’t be fooled. This week he will fall
back down to earth as Higbee is your classic matchup play performer. San
Francisco is very sound at covering the tight end and should get Richard
Sherman back this week to cloud the issue. This will be a bust in week 16.
POTENTIAL BIG DAY – ALL ABOUT THE RISK/REWARD
Quarterbacks:
Ryan
Tannehill (TEN)
Not overthinking who to start is the primary suggestion for such a
large week, the play of Ryan Tannehill could be one of those potential huge day
winners. With how this offense has been moving since Tannehill took over the
reins, his floor should be rather safe, but the ceiling could be massive. If
the Saints start fast and take a big lead, the Titans will have to throw a
great deal which would include a high level of garbage time points. Keeping
pace with the Saints will give Tannehill a good baseline.
Drew Lock (DEN)
Taking risks on championship weekend can sometimes leave you looking
for answers, but in the case of the Broncos Drew Lock, we could see fireworks.
Lock has been rather consistent since taking over and is facing a very weak
defense in the Lions. Setting up the play action will be paramount to success
as the coaching staff opens the playbook. Sometimes winning titles requires big
kahunas, and this could pay off.
Running Backs:
LeVeon
Bell (NYJ)
Here we are once again, sitting here recommending the play of the Jets
LeVeon Bell. Normally we wouldn’t have turned our heads at this suggestion, but
what can we say – we are suckers for revenge games. This will be the first time
Bell is facing his former club and will be angling to Coach Gase to give him 30
touches in this one. Bell would like nothing more than to remove the Steelers
from playoff contention which could provide a very good day. Play at your own
risk.
Joe Mixon (CIN)
At this point of the season, how can we argue what Joe Mixon has
been able to do? Starting the year looking to be that giant disappointment on a
terrible club, Coach Zac Taylor has fed his star running back with distinction
lately. Since week 8, Mixon has been one of the most consistent backs and will
have a juicy matchup this week verse the Dolphins. While all the hype never
fully came to fruition, he will be a key player in helping you win the
title.
Mike Boone (MIN)
This play recommendation has everything to do with the health of
Dalvin Cook. Reports have been contradictory thus far as we truly don’t know if
Cook will suit up. To make matters worse, this contest is being played on
Monday Night which will handcuff you that much further. If you have Cook in
your lineup, Boone is the natural hold and play once we get confirmed word as
Alexander Mattison is uncertain to play also.
Wide Receivers:
Amari
Cooper (DAL)
Being very low on the Cowboys entire receiving core last week, we
turn the page and get right back onboard with Amari Cooper. Recent reports have
suggested that Dak Prescott is dealing with an AC-joint injury which will make
it hard for him to throw the ball. Nevertheless, the Eagles defense is
atrocious and will give up points in bunches even if Cooper Rush finds his way
into the game. Dallas will be run first, but Cooper will have his chances.
DeVante Parker (MIA)
The breakout season for the Dolphins DeVante Parker could bring with
it great achievement for championship weekend. Facing the Bengals and their
Swiss-cheese defense, Parker should have ample opportunity to make things
happen. Ryan Fitzpatrick is no stranger in slinging the ball, and we could
witness Parker be a top five-point getter this week.
Tight End:
Jared
Cook (NO)
Upon signing as a free agent to the Saints this past offseason,
Jared Cook has seen both great and poor days. Entering this contest against the
team which drafted him back in 2009, nothing would be sweeter than to stick it
to the Titans. Cook and the Saints will continue to roll and Cook might be the
top tight end (outside of Travis Kelce) for championship weekend. Some risk,
but very high reward here.
