Entering week 12 of the season,
this could be the last chance to hook into the fantasy postseason making wins
that much more important.
While finding the matchups are clearly
significant, understanding how each roster is shaking out this late into the season
could be more valuable. Injuries and bye weeks are nothing new, but typically
the last five weeks of the season teams want to see what they have on their
roster as a whole. We have a great list of stars and sits to help you achieve that
championship trophy.
START - GET THEM IN YOUR LINEUP
Quarterbacks:
While the Falcons season has been
up and down, Matt Ryan has enjoyed a very good campaign. Facing the Buccaneers
this week, we fully expect an on-slot of points to be held on the scoreboard.
Atlanta has looked much better over the past couple weeks, and Ryan should feast.
Ryan Tannehill (TEN)
With the Titans coming off the bye
and ready to make the final push in their division, this week has a great
matchup for Ryan Tannehill. Since taking over for Marcus Mariota, Tannehill has
done a marvelous job in the stat column. Holding over 20-fantasy points over
the last four weeks is his floor.
Running Backs:
Again, we see no James Conner in
the starting lineup, so once again heading the relief train is Jaylen Samuels.
Pittsburgh showed very poor a week ago on Thursday Night Football, but we could
see a massive rebound coming. The defense will provide more chances and Samuels
should again have a banner day as the lead back.
Royce Freeman (DEN)
The Broncos Royce Freeman hasn’t been
anything to right home about this season, but this could be the week to plug
him into your lineup. Facing the Buffalo Bills and their weaker run defense,
Freeman and teammate Phillip Lindsay will be leaned upon a great deal. Its not
out of the question to see Freeman gain 60-plus yards and one touchdown this
week.
Bo Scarbrough (DET)
Having liked the skillset of Bo
Scarbrough coming out of college, we fully expected this battering ram to have
a place on an NFL roster. Granted he is limited in the pass game which leaves
opposing defenses to dissect offensive plays, but Scarbrough ran very well in
his first NFL contest. Playing the Redskins and their anemic run defense, a
touchdown should be a formality here.
Wide Receivers:
Obviously playing Tyler locket
should go over and beyond for receivers in this offense, but we have a magical
feeling that DK Metcalf will get many opportunities to make things happen.
Facing the Eagles banned up secondary whom have had a difficult time all season,
the Seahawks will establish the run first to pull those safeties up leaving
Metcalf to strike deep.
Jamison Crowder (NYJ)
The past three weeks have been
quite good for the Jets Jamison Crowder, and this week will be no different.
Playing the Raiders without Karl Joseph should be the first mouth watering
opinion. Crowder should find room all over the middle with Sam Darnold once
again finding his game. 10-points will be his floor with a touchdown on the
horizon.
Michael Gallup (DAL)
Much like last week, the Cowboys
Amari Cooper continues to deal with ankle and knee issues but is once again
ready to suit up as a decoy. This is music to our ears as Cooper will once again
take on the better of the coverages from this Patriots defense. Michael Gallup
with that expanded role has proven to be very reliable and it could come to fruition
in week 12. Some level of risk verse the Pats defense, but we dig the possibilities.
Tight-Ends:
All the offseason hype came from
Chris Herndon at the position for the Jets, but they should’ve started and
played Ryan Griffin from day one. In three of the last four weeks, Griffin has
been a massive part of this offense and there is no indication that it will be
limited moving forward. For any young quarterback trying to improve his game, a
valuable tight end is massive for that growth. Griffin is a must start in week
12.
Jared Cook (NO)
The New Orleans Saints come back
to the good book displacing the Buccaneers last week. Once again, the Saints
have a juicy matchup against the Panthers who have struggled the past two games
on defense. Jared Cook regained form and saw targets from Drew Brees a week
prior and will again be the case on Sunday. You should be able to trust Cook this
week.
SIT - LEAVE THEM ON THE BENCH
Much like last week, we can no
longer preach support for the Rams Jared Goff until he shows better than what
he’s been. This offense hasn’t been very sound this season and will have a very
tough contest against the surging Ravens. While we do believe they will come
out of their funk soon, this won’t be the game to do it. Goff should stay on
the bench.
Jameis Winston (TB)
While this may be the unpopular opinion
this week, something has happened in Atlanta where their defense has lifted
their overall level of play. Jameis Winston continues to be a turnover machine
and we could again see the Falcons use blitzing pressure to knock him off his
game. Winston has always been able to generate points, but this week the fear
is real. We are staying away.
Running Backs:
This sit may come back to punch us
in the face, but how can we trust anything coming for the Pats Sony Michel.
Over the past several weeks he’s been an afterthought in this offense but could
see his role increase with Mohamed Sanu sitting due to injury. Is it possible
we witness the Patriots take a run heavy approach, sure, but we cant recommend
Michel this week.
Jamaal Williams (GB)
The Packers are coming off the bye
and have a dandy of a contest against the 49ers on Sunday Night. This sit is
more speculative rather than a certainty, but facing the 49ers stout run
defense, it could be tough sledding for Jamaal Williams when he gets his
chances. Aaron Jones will obviously get the bulk of the workload, so any
thought of playing Williams isn’t to favorable.
Jordan Howard (PHI)
Jordan Howard missed last weeks
game to a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable in week 12. Even if he
manages to suit up for this contest, we really don’t like the odds of him
getting much work. Coach Pederson has stated that Jay Ajayi could get touches which
would limit Howard a great deal. Keep him on the bench until he returns to full
health.
Wide Receivers:
The Lions Kenny Golladay has been
fantastic this season, but without Matthew Stafford behind center, his past two
games have seen limited targets come his way. While we understand that Golladay
can make things happen at any given time, the risk has become drastic in seeing
a goose egg rest in the stat column for most of the game. Very high risk-reward
rests with Golladay this week again.
Sterling Shepard (NYG)
Coming off his concussion issue,
Sterling Shepard is poised to return and try to pick up the pieces from an
almost lost season. While we do believe he could see a healthy number of
targets, he should be nursed back into this contest with Golden Tate and Darius
Slayton having the bigger roles. We are keeping Shepard on the bench until we
see more on the field.
Terry McLaurin (WAS)
The Redskins rookie sensation has
hit the wall, but it has nothing to do with his level of play. Now starting quarterback
Dwyane Haskins simply can’t get his receivers the ball, and Terry McLaurin will
struggle to find anything positive for his owners this week. Having secured a
whopping average of over 16-points in his first five games, McLaurin has seen a
terrible average under six over the last stretch. Unless Case Keenum returns,
McLaurin is a must bench.
Tight-Ends:
At this point the Rams Gerald Everett
has become an enigma to the fantasy community. With the offense looking lost
and nothing creditable to say it will improve at this point, Everett will give
you nothing substantial in the form of fantasy production. Tight end has been
tough to predict, but this should be an easy mark.
POTENTIAL BIG DAY – ALL ABOUT THE RISK/REWARD
Quarterbacks:
Coming off a better showing last week,
Baker Mayfield has a great opportunity to reassert himself while building chemistry
with his receivers. Facing the Dolphins and their weak defense, we could
finally see the explosion we all thought it would be. 20-fantasy points should be
his floor with the potential of nearing 30 in this one.
Sam Darnold (NYJ)
Running Backs:
Much like the Baker Mayfield
evaluation, this should be a tune up contest for the Browns to build chemistry
and put a massive amount of points on the board. Kareem Hunt has been given a
large role in this offense and we don’t see that stopping in week 12. The
potential for Nick Chubb to be benched early in a blowout, Hunt could see mop up
duties stack his stat line.
Derrius Guice (WAS)
While we have preached holding Derrius
Guice on your roster for weeks now, this should be the contest where we finally
see more work come his way. Facing the Lions defense that is prone to give up
big plays on the ground, Adrian Peterson is also hobbled providing more touches
to Guice. The risk here is the inadequate pass attack which could limit the
rush yards, but we could easily see Guice have a very sound day.
Tevin Coleman (SF)
The 49ers run game has seen better
days over the past several weeks, but facing the Packers should allow for more
positivity. Tevin Coleman has proven to be that electric playmaker we believed
he could be back in Atlanta, and this matchup should bring out the best in him.
No Matt Breida once again for the 49ers means Coleman will be the workhorse.
Wide Receivers:
Typically suggesting the play of
Odell Beckham is a non-issue, but this season has seen far less production than
in years past. Much like all the super stars on this club, this matchup should
be conducive to statistical achievement from all. This will be Beckham of old
and will lift your team to victory.
Calvin Ridley (ATL)
As the Falcons face the Buccaneers
soft pass defense, Julio Jones will obviously be number one in target share,
Calvin Ridley will definitely have a day. Even as Ridley’s season overall has
been something of a disappointment, there is no question that both him and
Jones will feast on the Bucs terrible secondary. Lock and load Ridley this week.
Tight End:
Dallas Goedert (PHI)
As the Eagles continue
to struggle in keeping receivers on the field, having the gift of two reliable
tight ends to help the situation is a fantastic option. Philly will face off
against the Seahawks at home and will need everything in their arsenal to be victorious.
Clearly Goedert isn’t the primary target at the position, but he should have a
load of looks in the redzone.
