Fantasy Football Week 9 Waiver Wire Targets

Crunch time is vastly approaching in all fantasy football leagues where wins become extremely important. Injuries continue to cloud the environment while bye weeks will remain the constant. Finding adequate replacement players will go a very long way in your success.

While the free agent market appears to be diminishing by the week, some players will hold value coming off the wire. We have complied a list of players that will help not only in the future, but could have an impact in week nine. Follow us and we’ll get you that championship ring.

Quarterbacks:
Jimmy Garoppolo (SF) (58%)
The San Francisco 49ers continue to roll remaining undefeated in the process. While the pass game hasn’t been anything overly spectacular thus far, week nine for Jimmy Garoppolo is mouthwatering. San Fran faces the Cardinals on Thursday Night which should bring with it a good level of opportunity. The 49ers are of course run first, but this could be the week Garoppolo finds high statistical achievement.

Gardner Minshew (JAX) (52%)
With Nick Foles looking to be cleared and coming off of injured reserve in the next couple weeks, all eyes will be placed on the decision on who will lead the Jaguars. Gardner Minshew has played admirably this season in relief and will have another sound opportunity to produce verse the Texans. Jacksonville has improved a great deal on offense and should have a lot to prove this week. If you need a quarterback, Minshew will produce.

Ryan Tannehill (TEN) (29%)
Yet again we preach the play of the Titans Ryan Tannehill. Coming off a so-so performance verse the Buccaneers, the main objective is that they are winning. This offense is loaded with talent and chemistry will only continue to build. Tannehill will always throw an interception, but finding the endzone isn’t a problem for him. A great stream quarterback rests here.

On the Radar:
Derek Carr (OAK) (27%)
Mason Rudolph (PIT) (17%)
Matt Moore (KC) (8%)
Kyle Allen (CAR) (8%)
Brandon Allen (DEN) (0%)

Running Backs:
Derrius Guice (WAS) (29%)
Now is the time to snag the Redskins Derrius Guice off the wire and place him on the bench for insurance purposes. He will receive medical clearance shortly which will catapult him into the starting role for this struggling club. The Skins will want to see what Guice can offer, so volume should be there for the second half of the season. There’s nothing better than having elite runners on your roster, grab Guice this week before you miss out.

Mark Walton (MIA) (34%)
With the trade of Kenyan Drake to the Cardinals, Mark Walton has the lead role on this offense and will receive the lion share of the work. Kalen Ballage will too have a role, but in our eyes, Walton is the guy to own at this point. Granted the Fins offense is still a nightmare and will struggle to put up sound numbers, but volume will be here.

Jaylen Samuels (PIT) (21%)
Once again the Steelers may be without James Conner for another contest as he was hurt late on Monday Night. Hearing that it could be something significant, Jaylen Samuels looks to take on the duties from the backfield. While Benny Snell could also be an option, he too hurt his knee which could preclude him from playing this week. Samuels (and to a lesser extent) Trey Edmunds will carry the load in week nine for Pittsburgh.

On the Radar:
Kalen Ballage (MIA) (10%)
Trey Edmunds (PIT) (0%)
Rashaad Penny (SEA) (32%)
J.D McKissic (DET) (28%)
Alexander Mattison (MIN) (25%)
Darrell Henderson (LAR) (27%)

Wide Receivers:
Danny Amendola (DET) (10%)
We at ADF had high hopes for Danny Amendola early this season, but nothing has materialized until these past two weeks. As the Lions continue to struggle in finding their run attack, recreating it with short passes has been a welcomed sight. This should be the formula moving forward with Kerryon Johnson placed on injured reserve. PPR points will be common from Amendola moving forward.

Darius Slayton (NYG) (4%)
With the progression of Daniel Jones so far this season, yet another rookie is starting to pick up steam while making waves. Darius Slayton proved what he could do when given the majority of the target share. With Sterling Shepard still sidelined with a concussion, Slayton has taken full advantage of the expanded role. Target share may decrease with Shepard’s return, but until then, Slayton is worth a look.

Diontae Johnson (PIT) (12%)
We have been saying it all season, the Steelers need to find another play maker to support Juju Smith-Schuster, and they may have their man. Diontae Johnson is an up and comer with loads of talent to boot. His speed and elusiveness makes him a prime support piece for this offense. As the Steelers continue to retool behind Mason Rudolph, Johnson will be trusted to make big things happen. Johnson is a must add.

AJ Brown (TEN) (24%)
Granted, the Titans disappointed last week with a juicy matchup, but AJ Brown saved his fantasy day in finding the endzone late. The Titans will have these types of days until they figure out their offensive scheme with Ryan Tannehill. Brown remains our favorite receiver in this offense and we’ll continue to push the opinion. Still at 24% ownership, at least get him on the roster as a bench stash.

On the Radar:
Chris Conley (JAX) (4%)
Russell Gage (ATL) (0%)
Cole Beasley (BUF) (24%)
Alex Erickson (CIN) (7%)
Adam Humphries (TEN) (5%)
Josh Reynolds (LAC) (0%)
Hunter Renfrew (OAK) (1%)
Zach Pascal (IND) (9%)
DaeSean Hamilton (DEN) (7%)

Tight-Ends:
Jonnu Smith (TEN) (19%)
With the absence of Delaine Walker, the Titans Jonnu Smith flourished with Ryan Tannehill behind center. With struggles in finding the receivers last week, Tannehill looked to Smith early and often as the safety net. Smith will have a clear role on this offense with Walker out, so cash in on his services before his teammate returns.

OJ Howard (TB) (44%)
Placing the massive disappointment which has been OJ Howard on the list of waiver wire pickups does look strange, but with the trade deadline looming, his future may become brighter. We only recommend placing a claim in for Howard if he in fact does get traded to another club. Change of scenery will do him a world of good as talent oozes from the man. We will know his fate by 4pm EST.

On the Radar:
Tyler Eifert (CIN) (9%)
Ben Watson (NE) (5%)
Cameron Brate (TB) (13%)
Irv Smith (MIN) (2%)
Dawson Knox (BUF) (15%)
Chris Herndon (NYJ) (28%)
Josh Oliver (JAX) (0%)

Week 9 Defensive Streams:
Cleveland Browns (25%) – Playing Denver
Philadelphia Eagles (40%) – Playing Chicago
Green Bay Packers (37%) – Playing LA Chargers
