Gaining
those victories has become vastly important as we enter the home stretch of the
fantasy football season. With a mere six weeks left, being sure your lineups
are prime will go a very long way in securing a playoff spot. This week has
many great matchups as we have highlight many that you should start and sit
this week. Good luck and let’s get those wins!
START - GET THEM IN YOUR LINEUP
Quarterbacks:
The
Texans and Deshaun Watson are coming off a subpar performance last week and
will be looking to get back on track. Playing the Raiders who in their own
right have masked their issues on defense well, Watson will expose them greatly
in week eight. A very good start rests here.
Ryan
Tannehill (TEN)
We
have been preaching the play of Ryan Tannehill going back to the offseason. Now
fully entrenched as the Titans starter, this week has a glorious opportunity for
him to get back to the ways of the past. This offense is loaded with talent and
Tannehill is more than capable of spreading the ball. Don’t sleep on Tannehill
this week.
Running Backs:
While
it’s becoming a no brainer to start Leonard Fournette on a weekly basis, we can’t
help but keep preaching the must start. This offense again goes through the run
game and Fournette has produced fantastically this season. Facing the Jets
without CJ Mosley has our mouths watering.
James
White (NE)
While
James White has been rather consistent with his production, he hasn’t come
close to the domination of last season. Simply put, the touchdown productivity hasn’t
been there and is the main reason for the statistical drop off. This week has a
great shot at seeing him find the endzone at least once. While PPR start is absolute,
great optimism that he gets back into pay-dirt is real.
Ty
Johnson (DET)
Fresh
off the waiver wire, the Lions Ty Johnson has a massive opportunity to become a
fantasy darling in this offense. Matthew Stafford has been electric this year
finding all his receiver with ease. The lack of run has limited the overall
output, but we are confident this Johnson will provide the elixir needed.
Wide Receivers:
If
you haven’t seen the upcoming schedule for the Bills, John Brown will face
bottom feeder defenses in terms of pass coverage and it will again pay off.
Brown found the endzone last week and will again have a great shot at home
verse the Eagles terrible secondary. Fire up Brown again and don’t look back.
Emmanuel
Sanders (SF)
Recently
traded Emmanuel Sanders found his way to greater pastures with the San Francisco
49ers. This offense has been desperate for a true number one target and they
finally have one with Sanders. Coach Kyle Shanahan has indicated he will target
Sanders a great deal and we tend to agree. An endzone trip will occur with at minimum
10 targets this week.
AJ
Brown (TEN)
Even though Corey Davis took the lead last week, it may again be
the case in week eight. However, AJ Brown and his explosive ability will be
added to the game plan against the Buccaneers who struggle with the best of
them in covering the pass. Brown should have a massive day with a few deep shots
coming his way.
Tight-Ends:
With
the trade of Mohamed Sanu to the Patriots, whatever targets that went in his
direction will now be placed to Austin Hooper. Hooper saved his day late last
week, but should see much more action early in this contest. Even if Matt Ryan doesn’t
suit up or plays at less than 100%, Hooper will be the safety blanket in any
case.
Hunter
Henry (LAC)
Much
like Austin Hooper, Hunter Henry are obvious must starts but the number of
targets potentially coming their way this week will be massive. Keenan Allen is
pegged to miss this match with an injured hamstring leaving Henry the number
one option. Henry has looked great coming off his injury and should again be a
vocal point.
SIT - LEAVE THEM ON THE BENCH
Even
though Matt Ryan has been rather good statistically this season, this week
should be a lot different as he is dealing with an injured ankle. Hearing
reports that he plans to suit up and play, we aren’t taking any chances verse a
Seahawks defense that will cause all sorts of problems for this offense. Better
options exist this week.
Carson
Wentz (PHI)
Much
like any quarterback that comes to play in Buffalo, Carson Wentz and company
will have their hands full verse one of the best defenses in the NFL. The Bills
are quietly making things happen and this Eagles offense continues to struggle.
With no true deep threat on the field (again no DeSean Jackson), Buffalo will
stack the box and bring the heat all day.
Running Backs:
This
will be an unpopular opinion this week, especially with David Johnson looking
to sit out, we can’t suggest anything special from Chase Edmonds against the
Saints. The Saints have become one of the best defensive units in the NFL and
will create massive issue for Kyler Murray and this run game. He will get
volume but it shouldn’t account for a lot this week.
Jordan
Howard (PHI)
Much
like Carson Wentz, the Eagles run attack has again been struggling and this
week will be no different. The Bills hold a very sound run stopping unit and
will make it hard on Howard to find any room. With points needed to gain wins,
Howard will not provide what you require. Keep him on the bench this week.
Joe
Mixon (CIN)
This
has become another obvious suggestion, but for those still holding out hope
that Joe Mixon will produce anything tangible, get that though process out of
your minds. This Bengals club is a hot mess and have no ability in setting up
the run. Playing across the pond this week in England, the Rams will shut down everything
the Bengals throw at them. Mixon is a must bench!
Wide Receivers:
While
we do have a great appreciation for the Panthers Kyle Allen, facing the 49ers
stout defense will be a very tough task ahead. Moore should receive his targets
but will be hard pressed to make giant things happen. This sit recommendation is
more out of fear that under 10-points will be the stat line.
Keenan
Allen (LAC)
The
LA Chargers haven’t ruled out Keenan Allen for this week and may allow him to
play. Keep in mind his hamstring injury came up late in the week making it
impossible for him to be anything relevant. If Allen plays, he’ll be nothing more
than a decoy on the field to help draw coverage from other sides. Sitting Allen
is never anything we thought we’d suggest, but we are forced this week.
Larry
Fitzgerald (ARZ)
We
had great faith this season that Kyler Murray would find the future hall of
famer with regularity, but that simply hasn’t happened. The season started the
way we had envisioned, but of late, Larry Fitzgerald can’t be trusted to be
that 10-plus point earner. Facing the Saints defense that has been great in locking
teams down, Fitz will underachieve once again.
Tight-Ends:
While
we completely love the skillset possessed by this rookie, TJ Hockenson has seen
his usage cut over the last several weeks. Perhaps this could be the week he
gets back on track; we simply can’t take that change. Tight end has again been
a crapshoot to predict and play, but we need to see more for Hockenson before we
put him back in the lineup.
POTENTIAL BIG DAY – ALL ABOUT THE RISK/REWARD
Quarterbacks:
To be
clear, we have loved every aspect of Russell Wilson this season, and he is never
a great risk on Sunday. However, Wilson has the potential to be on of the best
earning quarterbacks this weekend hence the evaluation here. Facing the Atlanta
Falcons who can’t get out of their own way on defense, we fully expect Wilson
to air the ball a lot. Get ready for fireworks.
Josh
Allen (BUF)
Once
again based on opponent, the Bills Josh Allen has a glorious opportunity to
find magic on the stat sheet. Progression has been great so far this season and
Allen has been a master in the fourth quarter. We would like to see the Bills
start fast this week, but feel Allen could have another very sound day.
Last
week saw something of a weaker performance from the Colts Marlon Mack, but this
could be the week he gets back on track. Mack is normally a weekly starter
without question, but gaining that top-end value has been hit and miss at
times. Facing the Broncos defense that has a hard time stopping the run, Mack
will find the endzone this week.
Austin
Ekeler (LAC)
With
Keenan Allen looking to not play or be very limited this week, someone will
have to take over some of the target share and that should be Austin Ekeler.
The Bears defense has struggled lately to stop the run and will be hard pressed
on short passes out of the backfield. Ekeler has a great opportunity in PPR
leagues to make waves.
Wide Receivers:
This
rookie has been nothing shot of electric when passes have gone his way. Still
learning the NFL game while trying to cut his mistakes, DK Metcalf should be a
major highlight in this game plan. The Falcons can’t stop anyone through the
air and Metcalf will use his speed to get open for most of the day. There is always
some level of risk, but we can see a very sound day coming.
Mohamed
Sanu (NE)
Typically,
it’s difficult to suggest playing a receiver that has been traded to the
Patriots as their systems have been known to be quite complex. Mohamed Sanu has
a great shot to jump in this week and be the favorite target for Tom Brady. No
one can ever question the talent he holds and should have enough to have a very
good day. We really like Sanu this week.
Kenny
Golladay (DET)
Laying
an absolute goose egg last week, while watching his teammate Marvin Jones steal
all the productivity, we will see a change. Kenny Golladay has proven to be
very reliable to his quarterback and always has that game breaking ability.
Facing the New York Giants who have major issues of their own, Golladay get
back on track in week eight in a very big way.
Tight-Ends:
Finding
suitable tight ends to help your club gain points has been a great challenge this
season. With that said, the Buccaneers Cameron Brate has a fabulous shot at
being a fantasy earning this week. With news that OJ Howard will miss this
contest, the snap count will undoubtedly increase for Brate with redzone
targets being plentiful. Brate is a massive sleeper to find the endzone.
Jonnu
Smith (TEN)
Much
like the other Tennessee Titans, Jonnu Smith has a great opportunity to receive
targets and produce verse a weaker Buccaneers defensive unit. Ryan Tannehill is
more than capable of supporting all pieces on this offense, and Smith will have
a decent day with the potential of scoring a touchdown.
