The NFL season continues to move quickly with bye weeks in full
swing and the many injures clouding the landscape, the wire is vastly important.
Granted, the waiver is becoming slimmer by the day, finding that matchup
potential could be the difference in winning and losing. Some solid additions
rest on the open market and we have identified many that should be on your
radar.
Quarterbacks:
Josh Allen (BUF) (52%)
The Buffalo Bills are coming off their
bye week and receive a gift of sorts facing the lowly Miami Dolphins at home.
While the Bills offense hasn’t been much to speak of in terms dominating
offensive output, this is a contest that should allow them to find the next
gear. Josh Allen if available should be a top waiver priority with high
encouragement to start.
Kirk Cousins (MIN) (47%)
Over the past two contests for the Vikings, Kirk Cousins has found
greater efficiency to get his value back on track. Racking up 22-fantasy points
followed by 34-fantasy points, it appears this pass game has again found their
legs. We haven’t given up on Cousins just yet while most have already cut bait.
Cousins is owned in only 47% of leagues and should garner high consideration
verse the Detroit Lions. You could do a lot worse in week seven over Kirk
Cousins.
Sam Darnold
(NYJ) (16%)
On the Radar:
Jacoby Brissett (IND) (42%)
Teddy Bridgewater (NO) (20%)
Kyle Allen (CAR) (10%)
Ryan Tannehill (TEN) (0%)
Running Backs:
Clearly the running backs left on the wire have seen better days,
the limited amount of potential support is getting grim. The Bills Frank Gore
while owned in 57% of leagues may not be there, but if he is, snag him as the
Bills have a beauty of a matchup. Granted the Bills may get rookie Devin
Singletary back in the lineup from injury, they should nurse him along slowly.
Gore will have a sound role this week coming off the bye and should warrant a
waiver addition.
Jamaal
Williams (GB) (17%)
While Aaron Jones was the hot commodity a week ago, his teammate
Jamaal Williams found good graces once again with a fabulous showing on Monday
Night Football. How the Packers use their backs will continue to be a mystery
on a weekly basis, but Williams has proven to be a viable runner on a wire that
holds limited talent. Green Bay is moving in the right direction and Coach Matt
LaFleur is calling plays perfectly. Don’t sleep on Williams as he should at
least be on your roster.
Alexander
Mattison (MIN) (22%)
On the Radar:
Mark Walton (MIA) (5%)
Benny Snell (PIT) (2%)
Kareem Hunt (CLE) (50%)
Wide Receivers:
We have been preaching the benching of Marcus Mariota for a long
time now, and we are greatly encouraged to see Ryan Tannehill prime to get his
shot. Yes we know what type of quarterback Tannehill is, but in our eyes he’s a
massive upgrade to Mariota. With that, this entire receiving core gets a massive
lift in our books and it starts with Corey Davis. Owned in only 47% of leagues,
now is the time to secure his services as the Titans will be better through the
air. Davis could be a giant score off the wire.
Cole Beasley (BUF) (15%)
Are you seeing a trend this week with Buffalo Bills players
headlining this article? It would be silly to not promote the best producers on
this club with a juicy matchup verse the Miami Dolphins. Cole Beasley has been
a target pig in this offense this season, and that will undoubtedly continue
over the next four weeks. The Bills schedule is a gem for fantasy potential productivity
and Beasley will have an enormous role. Now’s the time to hold the top Bills
players on this offense.
Arden Tate (CIN) (23%)
While the Bengals continue to be one of the worst clubs in the
league, Arden Tate has confirmed he could be a reliable player in this offense.
Hearing no news that AJ Green is any closer to a return, Tate once again has
value off the wire to help the cause at the position. Having the Jaguars this
week will be a difficult task, but garbage time points should be the mantra.
Tate has middle value this week off the wire.
Devin Smith
(DAL) (2%)
With news that Amari Cooper is dealing with an injury which could
keep him out a couple weeks, Devin Smith rises up the board to be next in line
for the target share. Adding to that, Randall Cobb is too dealing with his own
issues forcing him into the medical room, which only increases Smith’s value.
Dak Prescott will have to throw to someone, and Smith will see his fair share
of the targets.
On the Radar:
DaeSean Hamilton (DEN) (6%)
Zay Jones (OAK) (4%)
Demaryius Thomas (NYJ) (4%)
AJ Brown (TEN) (19%)
Keke Coutee (HOU) (16%)
Duke Williams (BUF) (1%)
Jakobi Meyers (NE) (1%)
Pharoh Cooper (ARZ) (0%)
N’Keal Harry (NE) (6%)
Allen Lazard (GB) (0%)
Tight-Ends:
Darren Fells
(HOU) (4%)
As the Houston Texans move forward with great positives on this offense,
integrating their tight end Darren Fells has been a stroke of genius. Providing
Deshaun Watson another viable target to help take pressure off, Fells has had
two contests in a row of sound statistics. Having the Colts in week seven as
their opponent adds to the glory as they struggle to defend the position. If you’re
stuck at tight end like most of us are, consider Fells to help.
Luke Wilson
(SEA) (1%)
Basically back from the dead, the Seahawks will have no choice but
to use Luke Wilson as their starting tight end now that Will Dissly is lost for
the season. Wilson isn’t a supremely athletic player and won’t see the target
share Dissly had, but he is reliable enough to find ways into the endzone when
called upon. This addition is more in desperation rather than high end talent.
