With the conclusion of week four of the NFL season, injuries didn’t
hit the landscape which is a great positive for your teams, but leaves the
waiver wire quite thin. Bye week replacements could dictate terms for some as
we get into the full swing of having teams taking a week off. A few players
made a name for themselves last week which could also warrant a roster spot. Let’s
dive into who are the best pickups for week five.
Quarterbacks:
Teddy
Bridgewater (NO) (7%)
On the Radar:
Mason Rudolph (PIT) (11%)
Chase Daniel (CHI) (0%)
Sam Darnold (NYJ) (13%)
Running Backs:
We preached the positives of the Eagles Jordan Howard going back
to the offseason. Seeing how well this club could run the ball when given the
opportunity, Howard once again becomes fantasy relevant. Howard and Miles
Sanders ran all over the Packers last week and have a fabulous matchup verse
the Jets this week. If he is on the wire, he is a top priority.
Darrel
Williams (KC) (52%)
With how the Chiefs have been operating this season, any running
back that will get touches has a chance to put up sound numbers. While it
appears that Lesean McCoy has been getting first crack at the carries, Darrel
Williams has played the secondary role to perfection. His value will only hold
steam if teammate Damien Williams continues to be out of the lineup. Be sure to
check the injury report before taking a shot on this Williams.
Ronald Jones (TB) (45%)
As the Buccaneers move forward and get
more comfortable with the Bruce Arians offensive system, Ronald Jones looks to
be turning a corner. Looking far better than he has in the past, the run game
is finally taking shape in Tampa. Jones is available in more than half of
leagues and should be a top consideration to at least be on your roster.
Jaylen
Samuels (PIT) (30%)
As the Steelers chug ahead without Ben Roethlisberger, having a solid
run attack is more important. Seeing a timeshare situation in last night’s
contest against the Bengals, Jaylen Samuels has value even with James Conner
getting first crack at the workload. Running backs are a premium for fantasy
football and Samuels could be great in matchup play.
On the Radar:
TJ Yeldon (BUF) (2%)
CJ Prosise (SEA) (1%)
Wide Receivers:
Coming off suspension and ready to suit up in his first contest
for the big-blue, Golden Tate’s prospects also take a giant lift with Daniel
Jones throwing the ball. New York has re-engineered themselves to be far better
with their rookie behind center, and adding Tate will only help the situation.
Chemistry building could take a couple weeks, but this offense could be moving
in the right direction.
Geronimo
Allison (GB) (24%)
With news that the Packers will be without their star Davante
Adams for this week’s matchup, others will have to step up to provide Aaron
Rodgers someone to pass to. Enter Geronimo Allison to the mix as he was one of
our favorites to breakout in 2019. Having shown a solid performance last week,
Allison is poised to make a splash verse the Cowboys. Target share should be
here.
Diontae Johnson (PIT) (4%)
The Steelers have been desperate to find another play-maker on this
offense to help ease the coverage from Juju Smith-Schuster. They might have
found one with this rookie - Diontae Johnson. Having back-to-back weeks of
finding the endzone, he could now be a staple in this offensive game plan.
Given the fact that the Ravens are on the docket, Johnson could have another
good day verse a team that struggles to stop the pass.
Cole Beasley
(BUF) (8%)
On the Radar:
AJ Brown (TEN) (10%)
Corey Davis (TEN) (47%)
Deebo Samuel (SF) (27%)
Parris Campbell (IND) (5%)
Randall Cobb (DAL) (22%)
Tight-Ends:
In a contest (last week) filled with dropped passes and being
without TY Hilton, the Colts Jack Doyle again becomes relevant and should warrant
consideration. The tight end position is a major concern like it was last
season, so playing the matchup is most important. Playing Kansas City in
Arrowhead should leave Indy playing catchup form most of the day. Doyle is a
good fill in player with potential to take back his starting role.
Jimmy Graham (GB) (37%)
Much like the Geronimo Allison evaluation, Jimmy Graham should see
added work on this offense this week with the absence of Davante Adams. Finding
the endzone again last week, Graham still has the tools to get things done and
should be a vocal point against the Cowboys. Graham has been difficult to
trust, but without Adams on the field, he should have another sound day.
Dawson Knox (BUF) (14%)
The Buffalo Bills rookie Dawson Knox continues to make a name for himself
with great blocking and fantastic plays. Looking to have asserted himself as
the lead tight end on the team, he could see more targets come his way. Still a
shaky start most weeks, with Matt Barkley potentially gearing up to start, the
short pass will be there. If you need help at the position, Knox could have
decent value.
On the Radar:
Chris Herndon (NYJ) (19%)
James O’Shaughnessy (JAX) (2%)
Ricky Seals-Jones (CLE) (1%)
Lance Kendricks (LAC) (0%)
Noah Fant (DEN) (11%)
Week 5 Defensive Streams:
Houston
Texans (63%) – Playing Atlanta
Philadelphia
Eagles (40%) – Playing New
York Jets
Tennessee
Titans (25%) – Playing Buffalo
Arizona
Cardinals (2%) – Playing Cincinnati
