The NFL season is starting to move quick and we seem to be getting
a clearer image of who will continue as high raking players. Injuries have
forced many managers to take pause and review their options off the waiver wire.
Either way, we have a week three listing of players to start and avoid in hopes
to get that victory. Follow us and we’ll get you those wins.

LINEUP
Quarterbacks:
This
is an obvious start for week three as the Cowboys face the lonely Miami
Dolphins in Cowboys stadium. Even with Michael Gallup hurt and pegged to miss
the next few games, Prescott will have enough to spread the ball to his other
weapons having earning potential of 30 or more fantasy points. Dak will be a
top point getting this week
Josh
Allen (BUF)
The
Buffalo Bills look to be on the rise and Josh Allen has a perfect week three opponent
to make things happen. Granted rookie Devin Singletary is out for this match which
could leave the Bills offense to find other ways to move the ball. Either way, this
is the Bills home opener and New Era Field should be rocking providing them
greater motivation. Allen will secure 20 points this week with ease.
Matt Ryan
(ATL)
While
Matt Ryan has been a turnover machine through the first two games this season,
facing the Colts without their stud at middle linebacker (Darius Leonard), things
could finally open in the run game. Establishing the run for the Falcons to set
up the play action pass is paramount to success and we could see a lot of that
this week. Ryan should find his receivers all day for big gains.
Running Backs:
The
Baltimore Ravens have been on a tear to start the season behind Lamar Jackson,
but this week the great test verse the Chiefs will confirm if they are in fact
the real deal. Its our contention that Mark Ingram will have a massive role in
hopes to control the clock and keep the ball from Patrick Mahomes. In holding
the ball and creating long drives, Ingram will be a vocal point. An endzone
trip should be a formality.
Devonta
Freeman (ATL)
While
the Falcons Devonta Freeman has been a grave disappointment, we have a pure gut
feeling that he’ll finally get on track in week three. The Flacons continue to
set up this new look offense under Dirk Koetter, which has included more
passing plays. This week we could see an adjustment to produce far more in the
run game to help Matt Ryan exploit the Colts defense. This play has risk
attached, but we like the odds for success.
David
Montgomery (CHI)
The Chicago
Bears haven’t been anything spectacular on offense this season, but have a
glorious opportunity to showcase their ability on Monday Night Football. Facing
the Redskins who have proven to start quick and fade as the contest moves forward,
Montgomery should be trusted to once again carry the load. We should see the
best game of his young career.
Matt
Breida (SF)
The
49ers proved they could adjust and turn up the heat with Matt Breida and Raheem
Mostert running the ball. Kyle Shanahan engineered a game plan last week that improved
the looks for Jimmy Garoppolo, and this week should be much of the same. If you
have either Breida or Mostert, we preach the start in both cases.
Wide Receivers:
The
Minnesota Vikings have been disappointing thus far outside of their running
back Dalvin Cook. Adam Thielen hasn’t been able to find that magic he held last
season to produce weekly statistics to help his owners. This week however we
are taking the shot and risk to play most Vikings players including Thielen on
most fantasy teams. With the Oakland Raiders coming to town, this should be the
contest to get Kirk Cousins back on track and Theilen back in the good books.
Randall
Cobb (DAL)
With
the injury to Michael Gallup for the next couple weeks, former Packer Randall
Cobb will see a massive uptick in targets for this new high-powered offense. Behind
the running of Zeke Elliott and fabulous play of Dak Prescott, Cobb will be relied
upon to move the sticks and create those mismatches. If your stuck at the
receiver position, look to Cobb to produce in a very big way.
Julian
Edelman (NE)
With
news that Antonio Brown has been released from the Patriots, everything goes
back to how it began with the same cast of characters taking the lead. Julian
Edelman will again be the vocal point from Tom Brady and should have a field day
over the middle verse the Jets who again don’t have CJ Mosley on the turf. Point
per reception will again drive Edelman with an endzone trip on the docket.
Marquise
Brown (BAL)
The
Ravens super rookie Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has proven to be a nightmare for
the opposition and will again need to be on point against one of the best clubs
in the NFL. Brown has blazing speed and has proven to fly past defensive backs.
While we could see double teams coming his way this week, we can’t ignore
nearly 40 fantasy points in the first two games.
Tight-Ends:
Never
being huge fans of the Falcons Austin Hooper, we must throw support this week
to the tight end especially in point per reception formats. With the Colts
Darius Leonard out for this matchup, Hooper should feast in the middle and
being a leader in the Falcons victory.
SIT - LEAVE THEM ON THE
BENCH
Even
as we preach the start of his running back David Montgomery, we can’t throw
support toward Mitchell Trubisky until he shows us far more production. While
we still have a good level of faith for the season, Trubisky needs to be benched
until proven otherwise.
Andy
Dalton (CIN)
Granted
the Bengals have done a decent job producing offense under new coach Zac Taylor,
travelling to Buffalo for the Bills home opener will be an unbelievably difficult
task. Buffalo has a sound, underrated defense that should be in the face of Dalton
all game. With Joe Mixon also struggling, Dalton has to be put on the bench this
week.
Running Backs:
Much
like the Bengals quarterback, Joe Mixon not only has a difficult matchup, but hasn’t
shown anything impressive to warrant being in your starting line up this week.
While we completely understand the notion to play all your studs weekly, we
have no issue benching Mixon if you have better matchup options. This won’t be
the recommendation for the long run, but getting those wins are important and
risking it with Mixon right now can’t be done.
Jordan
Howard (PHI)
Admittedly,
we had high hopes for the Eagles Jordan Howard this season when he was traded
to Philadelphia, but he has been nothing short of a disappointment. Even with
all the injuries to the Eagles receiving core, Philly should promote more run
plays, but at this point it’s impossible to trust. Keep Howard on the bench
until further notice.
Kerryon
Johnson (DET)
While
many still love the outlook of the Lions Kerryon Johnson, we haven’t been on
board whatsoever going back to the offseason, and won’t be this week. Even as
the Eagles have issues on offense, their defense still holds a great level of
talent on the defensive line and should be able to shut down any run attack from
Detroit. It will take a great deal of anything for us to sell Johnson high.
Wide Receivers:
With Cam
Newton on the shelf with an injury this week, DJ Moore takes a huge shot in
value to muster anything productive. Christian McCaffrey will be the main focus
for this offense with the possibility of Greg Olsen being the safety blanket.
Moore will find room to run on the Cardinals defense, but getting accurate passes
will be a concern.
Jarvis
Landry (CLE)
For
the first two weeks we have preached the Browns Jarvis Landry to be a producer,
but he has let us down immensely. The Browns haven’t been anything spectacular
to begin the year and have to prove they can hang with the big boys. Facing the
LA Rams in week three is a monumental test to see if they will be anything special
this season. We still like Landry a lot moving forward, but have to suggest
benching him this week.
Robby
Anderson (NYJ)
As
the Jets struggle to find any offense without Sam Darnold behind center, all
offensive weapons will struggle to muster anything of value. Robby Anderson has
talent for days, but will struggle this weekend and could put up a giant goose
egg verse the mighty Patriots defense.
Tight-Ends:
Knowing
that we could take heat for suggesting to sit the Bucs OJ Howard, we have no
choice as the hype is all that has been proven. Howard has been a ghost in this
offense and there is no indication that he’ll instantly become a feature piece.
Leaving him on the bench is the best play at this point.
POTENTIAL BIG DAY – ALL ABOUT THE
RISK/REWARD
Quarterbacks:
The Arizona
Cardinals are 0-2 on the season, but have impressed us with how they play in
the second half of their contests. Understanding that a transitional period
will be there with a rookie passer, they have shown a lot of heart in their
contests so far. Murray has been very sound and will be on point against the
Panthers. If you’re stuck at quarterback, Murray could have a very big day.
Jimmy
Garoppolo (SF)
The
49ers are a club that too have impressed us through the first two weeks on the season.
Taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers without Ben Roethlisberger in California, this
still is a sound test to see what San Fran will become. Jimmy Garoppolo has
been impressive and with a solid run attack behind him, we like the odds of him
playing very well.
Running Backs:
Much like
the evaluation for Julian Edelman, James White again becomes a player to start
weekly without Antonio Brown. Being Tom Brady’s safety valve from the backfield,
White will have a giant day verse the Jets and their terrible offense. Without
CJ Mosley on the field, White will roam free and make all his owners smile ear
to ear.
Carlos
Hyde (HOU)
While
we have a great affinity for the Texans Carlos Hyde in this offense, he disappointed
a week ago against the Jaguars elite unit. This week the prospects look much
greater playing a Chargers squad who have a great deal of problems stopping the
run. Deshaun Watson will attempt to gash through the air, but the game plan
should begin with the ground game.
TJ Yeldon
(BUF)
Clearly,
Frank Gore is pegged to carry the load for the Bills this week without rookie
Devin Singletary, but don’t forget about the talents of TJ Yeldon. Yeldon has a
great skillset in the pass game and will be used quite a bit in this contest.
Gore will break down as the game wears on and Yeldon will have his best day as
a Buffalo Bill.
Wide Receivers:
Father
time hasn’t yet caught up with Larry Fitzgerald and with us supporting Kyler
Murray as a potential big day play, how can we not throw it toward Fitz also.
Fitzgerald has performed fabulously to start the year and has easily been
Murray’s favorite target. Double digits should again be a formality for this
receiver.
JJ
Arcega-Whiteside (PHI)
The
hot commodity off the waiver wire this week was Nelson Agholor, but don’t
forget about Alshon Jeffery clone JJ Arcega-Whiteside. With both Jeffery and
DeSean Jackson looking to again watch from the sidelines, Arcega-Whiteside will
have a giant role in the redzone and positional plays. If you want to take a
chance for high end production, Arcega-Whiteside could be the guy.
James
Washington (PIT)
The
Pittsburgh Steelers are beginning a new phase with Mason Rudolph behind center,
and that means his former college teammate James Washington should be on everyone’s
radar. The chemistry is already built between these two men and should be able
to burn defenses with regularity. Washington is a risky play as we don’t know
how this offense will look without Bug-Ben, but it can be worse than how it started.
Watch out for Washington.
Tight-Ends:
While
we can make the case to start all Dallas Cowboys players this week, finding the
ones that will earn the most points is key. Much like our Randall Cobb
evaluation, Witten will be on point in the middle of the field and in the redzone.
This contest will get out of hand early which will give Witten the potential
for a very big day as they spread the ball around.
