With week one in the books and witnessing some
exciting football, there is an abundance of talent sitting on the wire to help
your team move forward to get those victories. A few injuries did transpire
that could limit your week two lineup, but snagging these guys off the wire
could get you through a difficult time while adding value.

Quarterbacks:
Matthew Stafford (DET) (26%)
If you’re looking for an upgrade at the quarterback position for
week two, the Lions Matthew Stafford should be one to consider. Showing much
better than in the first season under Matt Patricia, we are very encouraged
with the potential this offense has with this plethora of receivers. Only owned
in 26% of leagues, Stafford could again become a weekly starter for your team.
Marcus
Mariota (TEN) (8%)
Not being the biggest Marcus Mariota supporters these days, it’s
difficult to not endorse him as a waiver target after last week. While Mariota
only completed 14 passes on the day verse the Browns, this offense is loaded
with talent at the receiver position which could promote better stats moving
forward. We aren’t overly sold, but if you’re stuck, don’t overlook him.
Andy Dalton
(CIN) (10%)
With how the Bengals preformed in week one, it’s clear that head
coach Zac Taylor has every intention to throw the ball with high regularity.
Even without AJ Green on the field (injured), Andy Dalton was able to muster
solid statistics while finding speedster John Ross with consistency. Dalton
should be considered as a streaming quarterback.
On the Radar:
Jacoby Brissett (IND) (12%)
Case Keenum (WAS) (3%)
Derek Carr (OAK) (29%)
Running Backs:
Adrian Peterson (WAS) (39%)
Once again, disaster has struck the Redskins young running back Derrius
Guice leaving him to nurse yet another knee injury. While this would appear to
be catastrophic for your fantasy team, old reliable, Adrian Peterson will once
again come to the rescue. For our appetite, Peterson should be added in all
formats with the potential to start this week.
Carlos Hyde
(HOU) (33%)
All the hype surrounding Duke Johnson was silenced when the Texans
used Carlos Hyde as their featured back on Monday Night. Hyde looked impressive
and quick pulling off big runs in the process. This backfield will be a
timeshare moving forward, but there will be enough to support Hyde as a weekly
starter. The argument can be made for him to be the first priority on the wire
this week.
Giovani
Bernard (CIN) (15%)
Once again the Bengals Joe Mixon finds himself unable to remain on
the field falling to yet another injury. Steady backup, Gio Bernard once again
will become a very popular addition off the waiver in relief. Bernard has
proven to be more than capable in the past to lead the team in touches from the
backfield and should see a heavy workload in week two.
Raheem
Mostert (SF) (1%)
Remember when the discussion around the 49ers backfield was felt
to be an issue? Well now with Jerick McKinnon and Tevin Coleman finding their
way into the medical room, Raheem Mostert will get his shot once again to prove
he could be a sound producer for fantasy football. Matt Breida will obviously get
first crack at the workload, but a heavy dose of Mostert will be on the menu.
On the Radar:
Malcolm Brown (LAR) (14%)
Chris Thompson (WAS) (14%)
Alexander Mattison (MIN) (21%)
Wide Receivers:
Mecole Hardman (KC) (15%)
With Tyreek Hill pegged to miss time and Sammy Watkins looking
like a super star last week, rookie Mecole Hardman should be added to all clubs
as his skillset resembles that of Hill. Possessing world class speed, there is
no question that Hardman will be involved much more in week two and will become
a hot commodity. Jump on him now before a bidding war ensues for his services.
John Ross
(CIN) (12%)
The Bengals John Ross was very impressive last week and should
again hold a sound role without AJ Green on the field. With new coach Zac
Taylor looking to air it out more often, the speed from Ross will promote a lot
of points on the board. We still have a cautious outlook on Ross as injuries
have been a common thread. Still at this point, he’s worth the risk.
Danny
Amendola (DET) (7%)
We preached Danny Amendola all offseason, and after one week, the
proof was in the pudding. Taking over the slot role as becoming Matthew Stafford’s
safety blanket was obvious to us, and boy did he preform. This will become a
common thread this season as it appears the Lions have enough weapons on
offense to remove double teams from all pass catchers. Amendola is a very low
risk add with very high return potential.
Terry
McLaurin (WAS) (6%)
Yet another player holding great appreciation under the ADF
umbrella, rookie Terry McLaurin was one of our favorites coming out of the
draft will his great speed, fantastic route running and solid hands. He was
overlooked by many due to the lack of production from Ohio State. He should be
rostered immediately as his value will only continue to rise.
Marquise
Brown (BAL) (32%)
There is no question that Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was a
playmaker from college, but our fear was stuck on if Lamar Jackson could get
him the ball with any level of consistency. Proving us wrong verse the
Dolphins, Brown was on fire and ripped apart Miami with ease. While we would
rather have other receivers at this point until we are convinced that Jackson
will be that pure passer, it’s difficult to not be excited for the possibility.
Jamison
Crowder (NYJ) (47%)
The Jets Jamison Crowder was on our radar during fantasy drafts simply
because we knew he’d become a safety valve for Sam Darnold. With how Coach Adam
Gase likes to run his offense, the short passes will become the staple on this
team to help aid in Darnold’s progression. 14 receptions last week should force
the hand of many to secure his services.
On the Radar:
AJ Brown (TEN) (4%)
Randall Cobb (DAL) (11%)
Ted Ginn Jr. (NO) (11%)
Kenny Stills (HOU) (23%)
DK Metcalf (SEA) (38%)
Cole Beasley (BUF) (6%)
Tight-Ends:
TJ Hockenson (DET) (53%)
A common thread for us also was throwing great support to the
Lions rookie tight end TJ Hockenson. Having all the skill to be the best tight
end to come out of a draft in many years, he proved he was worth the price of
admission in week one. This Lions offense has the ability to become very
dangerous with the slew of pass catchers on this offense. Being owned in over
50% of leagues already, you might be out of luck. If he’s there, grab him and don’t
look back.
Darren
Waller (OAK) (45%)
Without Antonio Brown off this Raiders club, Darren Waller
instantly become a featured piece on Monday Night. Having a great amount of
skill to work with, Waller should be owned and started on a matchup basis at
this point until the fabric of this offense becomes clearer. He is talented and
will provide heavy stats this season.
Jimmy Graham
(GB) (48%)
Yet another old timer trying to find relevance once again, the
Packers Jimmy Graham found the endzone on opening night of the season. While
usage will still be a question mark, finding reliable upgrades at the tight end
position is difficult nevertheless. With a new system looking to improve this
pass attack, Graham might have found his way back to being a contributor.
