Week three was perhaps one of the most bizarre we’ve
witnessed in quite some time leaving some valuable commodities on the waiver
wire to snag. Week four also is the start of Bye-Weeks for the 2018 season,
meaning, securing the services of top risers could go a long way in covering
your basis moving forward. Another slew of injuries and lackluster performances
should also force you to re-evaluate your roster to garner those improvements.
As always, ADF will help find those obvious talents along with lesser known
potential stash players to help you become a champion. Let’s get to it…

BYE WEEK: Carolina, Washington
Quarterbacks:
Ryan Tannehill (MIA) (9%)
ADF has been preaching the upside of Ryan Tannehill
throughout the offseason and will continue to do so after the third week of the
season. If your one of those managers who likes to play the matchups at the quarterback
position, Tannehill is a prime candidate to produce good-to-great numbers based
on that matchup. Coach Gase has shown to have already adjusted and integrated all
his weapons becoming multidimensional allowing Tannehill to spread the field as
he pleases. With Bye Weeks on the horizon, Tannehill could fit in nicely
against the Patriots in a huge divisional matchup in week four.
Eli Manning (NYG) (19%)
Many want to write-off Eli Manning and simply watch
him fade into the sunset from a successful career; we are not part of that opinion
and feel Manning still has many great days left in him as proven from last week’s
impressive showing. This week Eli and the Giants host Drew Brees and the Saints
in New York, which could turn to be yet another shootout to the fans delight.
Barkley and Beckham clearly lead the way as Manning’s favorite targets, but the
supporting cast allows for very solid potential. You could do a lot worse than
Eli if you’re looking for a matchup play.
On the Radar:
Andy Dalton (CIN) (34%)
Baker Mayfield (CLE) (13%)
Joe Flacco (BAL) (14%)
Running Backs:
Javorius Allen (BAL) (28%)
While most believe the Ravens backfield begins and
ends with Alex Collins, it’s time to open your eyes and witness that Javorius
has a clear role on this squad. Allen in the past has been the change of pace
back while holding standalone value in PPR formats to which looks to be the
case yet again this season. Allen should be owned on majority of rosters as his
flex appeal is great with top-end number generating potential is there when the
endzone is found. Holding an ownership stake of only 28%, grab Allen and don’t look
back.
Nyheim Hines (IND) (PPR) (8%)
As we already see waiver
wires clearing with high quality runners, one continues to be left off rosters
and perhaps to this point, rightfully so. As the Colts continue to figure out
their offensive attack, what is clear is that rookie Nyheim Hines continues to
see his fair share of work in the pass game. There is no question to us that
his role will remain and should continue to see targets as Coach Reich has
fully adopted the quick-short pass game in hopes to keep Andrew Luck upright. Hines
is a great bench stash that should be considered if you have the roster space
and are in need of a running back.
Ty Montgomery (GB) (PPR) (16%)
The Packers back field is once again a three-headed
monster that has left Ty Montgomery behind. Still in PPR formats, Ty showed
last week that he is back on the radar to at least be owned and placed on the
bench and potentially used in greater matchups. Montgomery found his way to
seven targets last week and could once again be serviceable when given the opportunity.
At this point Montgomery needs to prove more on the field to be a trusted start,
but if you would like to upgrade the position on your roster, Ty isn’t a bad
bet for added depth.
On the Radar:
Corey Clement (PHI) (59%)
Alfred Morris (SF) (53%)
Chris Ivory (BUF) (7%)
Nick Chubb (CLE) (23%)
Wide Receivers:
Calvin
Ridley (ATL) (45%)
The Atlanta Falcons and
offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian seem to have found something special with
their rookie Calvin Ridley. ADF has been extremely high on Ridley in terms of
fantasy production once he was selected by the Falcons in this past NFL draft -
finally we’re seeing the results on the stat sheet. Ridley is a great route
runner with a fantastic release that will continue to see lesser coverage thanks
to Julio Jones occupying the other side of the field. It’s a true breath of fresh
air to see Sarkisian utilize Ridley the exact way we had envisioned. If you
require a wide receiver, Ridley should be your top priority.
Chris Godwin (TB) (42%)
As Monday Night Football came to a close, it was clear
to us that Tampa Bay is somewhat forcing the issue with Chris Godwin. Having an
uneven first half; Godwin flourished for the rest of the contest as the Bucs
coaching staff continued their support of the young talented receiver. Chris
saw a whopping 10 targets last night and played ahead of Desean Jackson on many
high profile occasions. Clearly there is a role for both Jackson and Godwin on
this offense, but the issue might begin to see target share become a problem.
Either way, after last night’s performance, you can’t afford to wait on Godwin
any longer as he shouldn’t be on wires after this week.
Tyler
Boyd (CIN) (19%)
Entering his third season in the NFL (which is
normally the magic number for above average receiver talent); Tyler Boyd is
finding his way to become a house hold name and the perfect complement to their
super star in AJ Green. Putting up solid numbers in back to back week’s forces
everyone to take notice of the skillset and should make claim to housing him on
your roster. With AJ Green leaving last week’s contest with a groin injury, the
potential is definitely there to see Boyd steal the target share while leaving
speedster John Ross with clean up duty. As reports have come out suggesting
Green should be fine, Boyd still holds very solid standalone appeal and should
be a top waiver priority.
Sterling
Shepard (NYG) (57%) (PPR)
Very surprising to witness the Giants Sterling Shepard
hold a 57% ownership stake in fantasy leagues entering week four of the season.
Much like Tyler Boyd, Sterling is entering his third season in the NFL and was
poised to take a great leap forward in his progression, which has been seen in
two out of three contents this season. Seeing favorable target share in this offense
while being covered by secondary options from opposing defenses, Eli will continue
to feed Shepard every chance he gets. Sterling has greater upside in PPR
formats as 5-7 targets a game will be the normality.
Mike
Williams (LAC) (57%)
Admittedly, ADF has never
been a great believer in the Chargers Mike Williams, but he truly turned our
heads with his performance last week against the Rams. It’s no secret how Mike
is set up with his great stature and leaping ability being the largest aspects
of his game, but the agile nature in how he made plays was extremely
encouraging. Building a rapport with Philip Rivers was another question that
looks to be in the rear view as trust appears to be made with the two. With the
multitude of weapons on the Chargers roster, we still wonder the overall usage
for Mike moving forward, but he has placed himself on the list of at least
finding a way onto your roster.
On the Radar:
Jakeem Grant (MIA) (4%)
Antonio Callaway (CLE) (33%)
Albert Wilson (MIA) (2%)
Geronimo Allison (GB) (35%)
Tight-Ends:
Vance McDonald (PIT) (14%)
The tight-end position is
one that fantasy owners have a great deal of issue solving, as
week-in-week-out, new contenders make claim that potentially could become viable
outside of the super star talent. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been waiting for
McDonald to find health and get back on the field to which he did yesterday on
Monday Night Football. Vance showed his good ability and toughness with a
deadly stiff arm that should ultimately force Mike Tomlin to integrate him
further into the offense scheme. Sharing snaps with his counterpart Jesse James
will always be an issue, unless Vance can continue to make plays. There is
potential here if you require an upgrade at tight-end.
Dallas Goedert (PHI) (2%)
One speculative add this week goes to the Eagles
rookie tight-end Dallas Goedert. Having a career day last week in Carson Wentz’s
return to action, Dallas saw seven targets to which he made the most of the opportunity
securing all seven and finding the endzone. Some may scoff at the notion that
adding Goedert at this time is still irrelevant (to which may be the case), we
feel there could be a return statistical performance this week with Alshon
Jeffery still sidelined. The Eagles are starving for pass catchers and perhaps
adjusting the system to employ both Goedert and Ertz could be a common thread
moving forward. The potential is here for production, but temper the
expectations until more proof is given.
On the Radar:
Jesse James (PIT) (47%)
Ricky Seals-Jones (ARZ) (22%)
