With week one in the books and
witnessing some exciting football, there is an abundance of talent sitting on
the wire to help your team move forward to get those victories. A few injuries
did transpire that could limit your week two lineup, but snagging these guys
off the wire could get you through a difficult time while adding value.

Quarterbacks:
Joe Flacco (BAL)
While Joe Flacco isn’t going to blow
you away week to week with performances like the one we witnessed on Sunday
against the Buffalo Bills, but heading into week two, he might be someone to
look at. Flacco and the Ravens take on the Bengals on Thursday Night Football
and this new look offense has some talent that could surprise. If your looking
for a stream quarterback or an improvement at starter for matchup play, Flacco
is owned in only 7% of leagues and could fill in nicely this week.
Ryan Tannehill (MIA)
While Ryan Tannehill didn’t have the
best week one performance, this Dolphins offense did show well with big plays
and decent execution. The weather delay was the largest obstacle for the Fins
as they couldn’t get into a rhythm sitting in the locker room on two separate
occasions. With that said, there were encouraging signs from this offense, and
if they can continue to build, Ryan could have value in plus matchups. Also
owned in only 7% of leagues, Tannehill could become a fantastic bye week or
matchup play soon.
Case Keenum (DEN)
The Denver Broncos didn’t have the
best day against the Seahawks, but Case still managed to find good production
that could translate to greater success as the weeks move forward. Owned in
only 25% of leagues Keenum throwing to Sanders and Thomas will become a
normality seeing the potential of 15-20 fantasy points a week. If the Broncos
running game can continue to produce like it did in week one, Keenum will be
able to use the play action pass to his benefit putting up greater numbers.
On the Radar:
Tyrod Taylor (CLE)
Mitchell Trubisky (CHI)
Sam Darnold (NYJ)
Running Backs:
Austin Ekeler (LAC)
We at ADF have been preaching
support for the Chargers Austin Ekeler all offseason, and after seeing what he
was able to accomplish, we must continue our endorsement. Surprisingly enough
Austin is owned in only 17% of leagues and is becoming a full time PPR player.
The Chargers will continue to feed their workhorse in Melvin Gordon, but Ekeler
will have definite stand-alone appeal in this offense. Week one was a true let
down performance for Los Angeles, but they should get back on track in week two
against the Bills. Austin could be a must flex play vs Buffalo after seeing
them give up 47 points to the Ravens.
TJ Yeldon (JAX)
With no positive news coming out of
Jacksonville regarding Leonard Fournette’s hamstring injury, TJ Yeldon will be
a must add to all Fournette owners against the Patriots in week two. There
might be better options on your bench, but Yeldon showed he was able to produce
against the Giants and will have a role until Leonard returns. Owned in only
15% of leagues, we fully expect Yeldon to be a top priority addition once the
waiver wire opens.
Philip Lindsay (DEN)
Undrafted rookie free agent Philip
Lindsay showed the league that teams overlooked his skillset as the Broncos
exploited his ability with good success. While we believe Lindsay will have a
greater role in the pass game moving forward, Philip looked great running in
between the tackles piling up 71 yards on 15 carries. Owned in only 4% of
league to date, Lindsay will be a popular addition this week with good
potential moving forward. We would like to see another couple weeks of
production before we recommend starting Philip, but the uptick of value
definitely exists.
Nyheim Hines (IND)
The preseason from hell didn’t stop
head coach Frank Reich from using his rookie talent in the pass game as we had
expected this offseason. To protect their franchise quarterback Andrew Luck,
Reich instituted a quicker pass attack which lead to a whopping nine targets
for the dynamic running back. While the yardage wasn’t vast, Hines piled up a
healthy seven receptions and adding 5 rushing attempts on Sunday. There is a
clear role for Hines in this offense and he should only continue to be a
relevant player in the pass game. Hines is a must add bench stash going into
week two.
On the Radar:
Javorius Allen (BAL)
Chase Edmonds (ARZ)
Darren Sproles (PHI)
Frank Gore (MIA)
Spencer Ware (KC)
John Kelly (LAR)
Wide Receivers:
DeSean Jackson (TB)
No one could’ve predicted the
success the Buccaneers would’ve had against the Saints in week one on the road,
and further the commitment to feeding Jackson the way they did. Ryan
Fitzpatrick looked stellar in finding all his receivers with the upmost precision
leaving DeSean one of the largest earners from week one. Jackson was a perfect
five for five in targets to receptions while piling up 146 yards and 2
touchdowns in the process. However, DeSean did go down late in the contest with
an undisclosed injury and should be monitored entering week two. Owned in only
26% of leagues, Jackson is a must add.
Geronimo Allison (GB)
We will be the first to admit that
we wanted to see more of Allision before we provided our endorsement, but after
the Packers week one comeback victory, Allision will be a staple in this
offense moving forward. Rodgers targeted the young talent eight times including
a fabulous touchdown grab in the back of the endzone. With the multitude of
talent on this offense, Geronimo may not see this output on a weekly basis, but
he should enjoy a fairly good season if you play the matchups correctly. Owned
in 12% of leagues, Allision will too be a top waiver add.
Philip Dorsett (NE)
We at ADF have never been a huge fan
of Philip Dorsett, but after seeing how Bill Belichick has created a role for
the speedy wide receiver, we are starting to take notice. Dorsett took on the
Brandin Cooks role to perfection in week one showing he has removed the
negative stigma from his game early on. The jury will still be out on
predicting his complete season outlook, but the way his season has started,
Dorsett should be added to your roster. Being owned in only 4% of leagues you
should have the opportunity to snag him off the wire.
Ted Ginn Jr. (NO)
Being overlooked in basically his
entire career, Ginn refuses to go out into the sunset showing he can still ball
at a high level. With Drew Brees looking sharp as ever, and the offense proving
they will once again be a force, Ginn will put up games like this throughout
the season. Ted is the true deep threat on this Saints offense and will receive
at minimum of three to four shots per week. Owned in 17% of leagues, he should
be targeted this week as he might not be on the wire too long. The risk with
Ginn is the supreme boom or bust production from week to week, play the
matchups properly.
On the Radar:
John Brown (BAL)
Willie Snead IV (BAL)
Brandon Marshall (SEA)
Ryan Grant (IND)
John Ross (CIN)
Trent Taylor (SF)
Jakeem Grant (MIA)
Tight-Ends:
Eric Ebron (IND)
Although we still have our
reservations on the Colts offense, it’s clear that multi tight-end sets will be
the foundation especially in the redzone. Even though Ebron saw only 45% of the
offensive snaps in week one, he turned his limited role into very decent
production. Having 4 receptions go for 51 yards and one touchdown would place
him in the conversation to warrant a potential starting role. Ebron will continue
to be a wait and see player with the Colts, but he should be placed on your
roster if you require a tight-end. Owned in 33% of leagues you should have the
opportunity to secure his services.
Luke Stocker/Jonnu Smith (TEN)
With the season ending injury to the
Titans starting tight-end Delanie Walker, two players could potentially fill in
as the new go to guy. Luke Stocker looked to take on the role first while Jonnu
Smith has the better ability to become the difference maker on this offense.
The Titans brain trust is very excited about the potential in Smith but still feel
he isn’t ready to take on a full-time role just yet. If we had to suggest one
of these players to pickup to replace Walker, we’d have to say Smith should be
your guy. Both players have no ownership percentage and you should have your
choice of the two.
Ian Thomas (CAR)
With recent news that Greg Olsen is
dealing with yet another foot injury and this could once again be quite severe,
Ian Thomas will step in as the Panthers starting tight-end. The Carolina
coaching staff has had nothing but praise for the young man and he will be
leaned upon in an offense that looks to show better than how they did in week
one. The ownership stake for Thomas is literally none so you shouldn’t have an
issue catching him off the wire. At this point owning Thomas could be a risk as
we don’t know how much he’ll be used, but you may not have a choice and this
could turn out to be something special.
