As we enter Draft Week it’s time
to get our final predictions in. ADF is making our best guess efforts in
predicting where some of the upcoming talent will be drafted. ADF’s final mock
will be released prior to the NFL Draft on April.26. Let the speculation begin.
(Mock Draft includes potential trades)
Mock Draft 2.0
ROUND 1
Buffalo Bills (Trade
with CLE & NYG) | Pick 1:
Josh Rosen (QB)
Cleveland Browns
(Trade with NYG & BUF) | Pick 2:
Sam Darnold (QB)
To finalize any draft day trades, the Bills would have
to tip their hat to their selection (in this case Josh Rosen) to provide the
Browns front office with confidence that Darnold will be available at pick
number two. If this three-wat trade happens, the Browns will still get their
player plus more picks for the future.
New York Jets | Pick
3:
Baker Mayfield (QB)
There’s little to question as we enter draft week that
the Jets are in full man-crush mode over Baker Mayfield. The only thing that
could derail this pick would be an unknown squad looking to grab a quarterback
and steal Baker from the Jets in moving up to pick one or two, (unlikely).
New York Giants
(Trade with CLE & BUF) | Pick 4:
Saquon Barkley (RB)
While adding defensive talent to a unit that looks to
regain its form, Bradley Chubb would definitely fit the mold in New York. Alas,
Gettleman will have no choice but to grab the drafts best overall talent in
Saquon Barkley. Witnessing how Zeke Elliott changed the entire Cowboys offense,
the hopes will be the same that Barkley could provide a much needed run attack
for the Big-Blue.
Denver Broncos | Pick
5:
Bradley Chubb (DE)
Nothing changes for the Broncos on draft day (from
mock 1.0) as they will stand pat and get a fantastic talent. The combination of
Von Miller and Bradley Chubb will be far too nice for them to pass up.
Indianapolis Colts |
Pick 6:
Quenton Nelson (G)
Not much change from mock 1.0 for the Colts, they have
great needs on the offensive line and need to keep Andrew Luck on the field.
Nelson isn’t the sexist of picks, but will help Indy solidify that terrible
line.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
| Pick 7:
Denzel Ward (DB)
ADF believes in the talents of Denzel Ward that Derwin
James will be overlooked in Tampa (from mock draft 1.0) and Ward will be the selection
for the Bucs at pick seven. Ward is a game changer and a potential island
player that would allow this Bucs defense to re-engineer their defensive scheme
for the better.
Chicago Bears | Pick
8:
Tremaine Edmunds (LB)
The need for the Bears is far too great at line backer
for this pick to change. It’s a win-win situation for Chicago as they fill a
great requirement while getting the best player at the position.
San Francisco 49ers |
Pick 9:
Derwin James (S)
As mentioned in mock draft 1.0, San Fran will be looking
to improve their edge rushing presence which may sway this selection, however, ADF is a great believer in Derwin James much
the same as Denzel Ward. The 49ers will get a monster on the back end that can
change the course of any game. Huge win at pick nine.
Oakland Raiders |
Pick 10:
Roquan Smith (LB)
The Raiders will not pass up on Roquan Smith at pick
ten to team up with Khalil Mack forming a potential dangerous duo that opposing
teams will have nightmares in hopes to control.
Baltimore Ravens
(Trade with MIA) | Pick 11:
Josh Allen (QB)
A club that may shock drafts boards with a potential
trade up is the Baltimore Ravens. Looking ahead to the future while having a
plan in place to sustain their competitive success, the Ravens will surprise all
in trading up and selecting Josh Allen. Much like Joe Flacco coming out of
college, Allen has a cannon of an arm that would fit the scheme perfectly.
Cleveland Browns
(Trade with BUF & NYG) | Pick 12:
Minkah Fitzpatrick (S)
In receiving the Bills twelfth pick in the blockbuster
three-way trade, the Browns should continue to bolster their defense in selecting
former Alabama product Minkah Fitzpatrick while continuing to add to their
surplus of draft capital.
Washington Redskins |
Pick 13:
Vita Vea (DT)
Washington will have the pleasure of adding another
fantastic player to their defensive front in selecting Vita Vea at pick thirteen.
Already housing a formable squad up front, they’ll now be a much feared group
having a potential game breaking defensive line.
Green Bay Packers |
Pick 14:
Josh Jackson (DB)
Nothing changes for the Packers at their current
placement (from mock 1.0) as they will select one of the better defensive backs
in the class. Green Bay has a great need at the position and should fill it
with Jackson.
Arizona Cardinals |
Pick 15:
Calvin Ridley (WR)
While the Cardinals could be in the running from a
quarterback for the future, in this scenario they will stand-pat and select Calvin
Ridley to learn behind their future hall of famer in Larry Fitzgerald. ADF
believes Ridley has talent and if placed in the correct situation would allow
him to grow; in Arizona he would receive the proper tutelage.
Miami Dolphins (Trade
with BAL) | Pick 16:
Harold Landry (DE)
In their trade with the Ravens, Miami falls back to pick
sixteen and begins the retooling of their defensive line. With Ndamukong Suh released
and Cameron Wake aging, Harold Landry would fit it perfectly to provide a pass
rush the Fins will desperately need in 2018.
Los Angeles Chargers
| Pick 17:
Leighton Vander Esch (LB)
Nothing changing in respect to the Chargers pick at
seventeen from mock 1.0. A glaring need for a defensive quarterback will be
filled with Vander Esch taking his talents to Los Angeles.
Seattle Seahawks |
Pick 18:
Mike Hughes (DB)
While ADF suggested earlier the Hawks could go in the
direction of defensive end, it’s quite possible to see Mike Hughes being
selected to replace all the departed defensive backs this offseason. Hughes
would fit in day one in attempts to recreate the legion of boom 2.0.
Dallas Cowboys | Pick 19:
DJ Moore (WR)
It’s very possible the Cowboys go with Courtland
Sutton with their selection at nineteen, but with news that Jerry Jones is
favouring DJ Moore makes this pick an almost certainty as of today.
Detroit Lions | Pick 20:
Marcus
Davenport (DE)
While the Lions have needs in many places, providing
assistance to Ziggy Ansah with a formable pass rush talent to remove double
teams could be the play here. Davenport would instantly create mismatches
allowing the Lions to mix up their packages under new head coach Matt Patricia.
Cincinnati Bengals |
Pick 21:
Mike McGlinchey (T)
Not much changing here for the Bengals. It’s quite
simple what the Bengals need to address in the first round, and that’s their
spotty offensive line. Adding McGlinchey could benefit to the right side or
having him slide in to play guard would be a huge improvement.
New York Giants (Trade
with BUF & CLE) | Pick 22:
Jaire Alexander (DB)
With the three-way trade concluding with the Giants
picking at twenty-two, the Giants will add to their defense in selecting one of
the better prospects at the defensive back position. With Dominique
Rodgers-Cromartie being released and potentially kicking Eli Apple inside to
handle the nickel duties, Alexander would fit in perfectly alongside Jenkins
and Collins. Quite a dangerous group if
we do say so.
New England Patriots
| Pick 23:
Lamar Jackson (QB)
Now that Belichick is tasked with finding another
potential solution at the backup quarterback position, its possible New England
chooses the most dynamic/athletic QB in the draft. This may be a stretch as the
skillset isn’t something we’ve seen from the Patriots system, but wouldn’t rule
it out.
Carolina Panthers |
Pick 24:
Carlton Davis (DB)
While the Panthers secondary played admirably last
season, adding talent to a unit that could once again be feared should be the direction
Carolina goes. Davis is a big talented defender that could start day one and
provide skill to a unit that may have overachieved last season.
Tennessee Titans |
Pick 25:
Rashaan Evans (LB)
One item lacking on this Titans defense is a true
playmaker at the middle linebacker position. While Wesley Woodyard is a good
player, he would absolutely benefit from having an explosive playmaker help man
the middle of the defense. This would make a world of sense for Tennessee.
Atlanta Falcons |
Pick 26:
Antonio Callaway (WR)
While ADF believes defense is the more favorable pick
for the Falcons here, there is great potential that adding weapons to the
offense could be the elixir needed to bring Matt Ryan back to form. Needing a
speedster at the receiver position makes Callaway a natural slam dunk to add explosiveness
while teaming up with Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu. Off field concerns may
derail Callaway’s prospects and watch a potential draft slide, but the fit
would be fantastic.
New Orleans Saints | Pick 27:
Isaiah Oliver (CB)
Perhaps one of the least
spoken about defensive backs in the draft, recent waves are allowing Oliver to
climb up team boards as we get closer to draft day. Having great size and speed
would give the Saints a tandem (teamed with Marcus Lattimore) the New Orleans
franchise has never enjoyed. Good luck passing on the Saints if Oliver is drafted
here.
Pittsburgh Steelers |
Pick 28:
Justin Reid (S)
The Steelers require a few pieces to round out a club
that is poised to make another run. Adding safety help to a team that will
require sure handed tackling assistance, now without Ryan Shazier for all of
2018 is a must. Its possible line backer could be the pick, but Reid is far too
talented at twenty eight.
Jacksonville Jaguars
| Pick 29:
Courtland Sutton (WR)
With speculation the Jaguars don’t possess a true
number one receiver but rather a collection of mixed talent, Courtland Sutton
would give Jacksonville a true redzone threat with his exceptional size. With a
defense looking the part of the elite units in the league, adding to the
offense should be the way to go.
Minnesota Vikings |
Pick 30:
Mike Gesicki (TE)
Even though the Vikings have Kyle Rudolph on the
roster, his current salary entering the contract out year could make him
expendable in 2019. Minnesota would love to potentially upgrade the position
while not breaking the bank in overpaying Rudolph next season. Gesicki is a
giant and would add another weapon to an already stacked offense. Planning for
the future while selecting the best at the position will make Vikings
management very pleased.
New England Patriots
| Pick 31:
Maurice Hurst (DT)
With their second pick in the first round, the
Patriots will add to a defense in need of talent. Hurst would provide much needed
defensive line assistance with a great burst and a high motor. He could
potentially start day one in New England.
Philadelphia Eagles |
Pick 32:
Derrius Guice (RB)
