Start - Quarterback:
Deshaun
Watson (HOU)
Like
most in the NFL all have taken notice to the great play by rookie star in the
making Deshaun Watson. He has a so-so match-up on paper vs a Browns defense
that ranks 5th in the NFL. At this point you can’t bench Watson
based on match-up as his on field play has been incredible. He is a must start
until he proves otherwise. And lets face it, it’s the Browns (no offence Browns
fans your time will come).
Drew
Brees (NWO)
The
Saints are coming off the bye week with an extra week of prep for the Lions.
Brees and the Saints have the 4th best passing offense in the NFL
going up against the 18th ranked much improved defense of the Lions.
After trading Peterson away I believe coach Peyton will have no distractions on
whom to get the rock too. Brees should have a great day at home.
Kirk
Cousins (WAS)
Another
fresh bye week team with extra preparation playing at home is the Redskins and
Kirk Cousins. Going up against the 49ers that rank at the bottom of the league
for total defense (28th), the Skins should pass freely. I believe we
will see a more efficient Skins team this week carving up the 49ers.
Play with Confidence:
Aaron
Rodgers (GB)
Philip
Rivers (LAC)
Tom
Brady (NE)
Potential Big Day:
Carson
Palmer (ARZ)
Trevor Siemian
(DEN)
Start - Wide Receiver:
DeAndre Hopkins (HOU)
Hopkins
has had quite the resurgence since Watson has started playing. Finally the
Texans have a QB that can get this man the ball with consistency. Although the
Browns have a decent defense statistically the true colors should come to light
on Sunday. Fantasy suggests the Browns only give up the 8th least to
wide receivers this year but this will not be the case.
Chris Hogan (NE)
I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t expect Hogan to
be this big of a touchdown producer this season in the Patriots offense. Hogan
has been lights-out in the red zone and has become another safety blanket for
Tom Brady, a trend I fully expect to continue vs the Jets. Even though the Jets
give up the 14th least amount of points to wide receivers Hogan has
become a must start.
Pierre Garcon (SF)
(PPR)
Garcon has become a tricky play from week to week
but I believe he will pick up where he left off from last week. Garcon is
coming back home to Washington for a revenge game against his former club. In
the Shanahan offense there will be no limit to the volume that Garcon will
receive. Other benefit’s for Sunday’s game is that Josh Norman is still out
recovering from a rib injury, while Shanahan is very familiar with his former
team. Garcon might not get into the end zone but PPR and garbage time points
will be solid in this one for Garcon.
TY
Hilton (IND)
The
combination of Hilton’s recent play and having an A+ match-up vs a Titans squad
that gives up the 3rd most to receivers in fantasy is a recipe for
success. Brissett just continues to get better in the Colts offense having the
ability to find Hilton all over the field. I fully expect Hilton to find the
end zone on Monday Night.
Jarvis
Landry (MIA) (PPR)
Landry a must start? This may puzzle some, but
believe me Landry will be a big player in all PPR leagues. Even though the
match-up doesn’t look friendly as the Falcons give up the 9th fewest
points to wide receivers. Things to consider, first - Atlanta just came off a
bye week, the numbers are deflated, second - Parker isn’t expected to play,
third - the Falcons as I expect should blow out the Dolphins which should
result in garbage time points for Landry. All signs point to a big day.
Play with Confidence:
Will
Fuller (HOU)
Randal
Cobb (GB) (PPR)
Michael
Thomas (NWO)
Danny
Amendola (NE) (PPR)
Keenan
Allen (LAC) (PPR)
Michael
Crabtree (OAK)
Emmanual
Sanders (DEN)
Potential Big Day:
Mike
Wallace (BAL)
Adam
Thielen (MIN) (PPR)
Marvin
Jones (DET)
Taylor Gabriel (ATL) (PPR)
De’Anthony Thomas (KC)
Start - Running Back:
Todd
Gurley (LAR)
Gurley
has a great match-up vs a Jaguars squad that is 6th worst against
the run fantasy-wise. Yes the Jag’s are a completely different story in the
pass game to which the Rams should dominate via the run and try to set up the
pay-action. This game should have a lot of ground & pound and defense, so
expect Gurley to be running.
Leonard
Fournette (JAX)
To
Gurley’s counterpart in the same game Leonard Fournette has been fantastic. He
hasn’t had a game under 10 fantasy points all season (standard leagues), and
that trend should continue as he faces a Rams team dead last against the run
(standard leagues). With all the passing happening in the NFL the Jag’s are
proving the old formula still works well – a great run game and solid defense!
I fully expect running to dominate this game.
Le’Veon
Bell (PIT) (PPR)
The
Steelers look like a hot-mess offensively as they have struggled thus far to
find their stride. Even though the Chiefs rank atop the fantasy charts allowing
the 2nd fewest to running backs Bell is a PPR freak that should
continue on Sunday. As seen the Chiefs can light up the scoreboard leaving a
great opportunity for garbage time points. I could even see Bell finding the
end zone in this one.
Melvin
Gordon (LAC)
Although
the Raiders are about the middle of the pack when it comes to giving up points
to runners Gordon has been on a tear of late. He has found his stride as coach
Lynn has finally figured out he must ride his premier back to get this offense
going. I fully expect his game to have quite a few points and Gordon should be
in the end zone yet again.
Elijah
McGuire (NYJ)
McGuire
is a boom or bust play this week vs the Patriots defense who can’t stop a cold.
The biggest concern I see is the possibility of Brady making this a non-contest
early and the Jets will abandon the run game. If somehow McCown and company can
stay in the game it’s very possible we see 80-100 yards and 1 TD from Elijah
even with Forte back.
Chris
Thompson (WAS) (PPR)
Coming
off the bye I have that sneaky suspicion the Skins worked on many deceiving
ways to get Thompson the ball. Rob Kelley doesn’t look to suit up this week
again leaving the door open to a Thompson statistic show. I fully expect
Thompson to have a big day against the lowly 49ers who give up the 4th
most to running backs.
Alvin
Kamara (NWO) (PPR)
Everyone
favorite back post the Peterson trade to Arizona, enter Kamara. Now that his
role is clear on this Saints offense I am ready to witness the show. The Saints
brass loves what this kid brings to their game plan. Even though the Lions give
up a middle of the pack point production to runners this year Alvin will have a
massive role in this game. His ability on 3rd done make him a great
play in the flex spot every week.
Play with Confidence:
Jordan Howard (CHI)
Ameer Abdullah (DET)
Mark
Ingram (NWO)
Devonta
Freeman (ATL)
Kareen
Hunt (KC)
CJ
Anderson (DEN)
Jerick
McKinnon (MIN)
Potential Big Day:
Doug
Martin (TB)
DeMarco
Murray
Start – Tight End:
Austin Seferian-Jenkins (NYJ)
(PPR)
Yet another Jets player poised to have a big day against
the Patriots terrible defense. Currently the Patriots allow the 4th
most to the tight-end position and he could see a lot of volume come his way.
There is potential that this game could get out of hand early allowing for
garbage time production. Good start either way.
Austin
Hooper (ATL)
Hooper
has a great match-up this week vs the Dolphins who give up the 5th
most to fantasy tight ends. Coming off the bye week and having Sanu in the
medical room there will be plenty of opportunity for Hooper to have a day. If
you are in bye week trouble at TE he may be your guy.
Play with Confidence:
Kyle
Rudolph (MIN)
Rob
Gronkowski (NE)
Potential Big Day:
Gerald
Everett (LAR)
David
Njoku (CLE)
Hunter
Henry (LAC)
